I really-really want that sport exhaust sound so I can do the throttle blip, quasi double clutch downshift, mash the throttle and revel in the auditory glory of that legendary flat six music.
It only costs how much?
- clip please

I'll chime in since I have the GHL's.

First. Don't buy mufflers based on a sound clip. I never heard one that did ANY system justice and more often than not sounded different than in real life. Yes I heard some that were fairly accurate but this is the exception.

I couldn't be happier with my choice. The workmanship was first rate. This was the concensus of all the Nissan techs at my friend's Nissan store when we were installing them. Everybody crowded around to oggle them!

The sound is perfect for me. A much more mechanical sound on start up and idle than stock. Deeper during mild acceleration and raspy on the higher end. I don't notice any resonance. It may be pertinent to note that I get many compliments and inquiries at the PCA auto-x on what mufflers I'm running.

ANY muffler will sound better than stock and the differences in sound are in the details and personal preference. If you can hear them in person it would be worth your while.

LanceK,

How much did the installation cost, and have you noticed any changes in power (i.e. gain/loss)? Thanks

David since I did the installation myself it didn't cost anything...

It is a very easy job and even if you're not very comfortable with wrenches it's still a pretty easy job. Having a friend handy makes it much easier.

There are many posts on here about this DIY job. I think Loren's tech site might even have something.

As far as power there is no change. I do feel like I notice a hint more throttle reponse right after going into another gear.

Mufflers on this car are for sound ONLY. No matter what claims someone makes.

Yes, I must agree with LanceK. I always advise when considering a muffler change; think about sound enhancement. Let's assume you will get 10 hp, not likely; you will not notice the increase in power while you drive.

Thanks LanceK, I was more worried about any LOSS of power, since I've read some reports of that happening with other exhaust systems.

With regard to the installation, I wouldn't hesitate doing it myself, but I am concerned about ground clearance/access to the underside of the car. How did you manage?

Thanks

David

David I am priviledged to have a good friend who is a Nissan tech. We have access to the lifts in his shop.

But a floor jack and some stands are more than enough.

I didn't dyno my car before or after the install.

IMO there was no effect on performance. If anything I think throttle response slightly improved.

Brian,

Well, a few folks requested the tips only. The tips are similar to the option upgrade tip. FOR RENNLIST MEMBERS ONLY: $200
