Both the '96 and '97TTs were OBD2 compliant here in the US. However, the '97 ECU is the only one that can be reprogrammed. I would assume it is the same for ROW.

Search in the archives. There were some post made by Steve Weiner on the exact ECU part numbers and the years, etc.

Hi:

Look at the Bosch numbers on your ECU,....

If it reads 0.261.203.378 or 0.261.203.758, this is the 2-chip box and cannot be done.

If it reads 0.261.203.376 or 0.261.203.377 then its the single chip ECU that can be reprogrammed.

That ECU is a USA-spec single chip box that CAN be chipped.

Hi Steve,

found no further infos on the ecu part numbers in the archives.

I got one ecu in germany and it is the above mentioned part number:
0 261 204 377 and 993.618.611.00

Is it shure to be us-spec or could it also be row?
Production date is 20.12.96 on the porsche sticker and there is also a 430 written on it with a ballpen!

It also says 993.618.682.85 Typ 993 MW-TU 01
WPOZZZ99ZVS370546

With it came a porsche "Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung" paper from 28.11.1995 that mentions 430 PS and the part number: 993.618.682.82 instead of ...85.

It for sure is a 97 because of the ...ZVS... but can i see if it is 430 PS/424 HP?

Any help is appreciated as ever.

Stummel:

That looks like an ROW TT ECU.

Its chippable but not OBD-II and will not start a North American spec car. I did not locate that exact number but from what I DID find, it looks like the 430 PS/424 HP ECU.

With the correct K-24's, that ECU can be re-programmed to 480 HP.

Thanx Steve, helped a lot.

When turbos go toast i will definately upgrade them and the ecu.

Is it for sure that the 430 and the 450 HP ECU s are programmed differently? Or is it just the other turbos that make the difference?

Just an idea.

Hi Stummel, is that the ECU that was on eBay?

I was so tempted to buy that, but at the last minute dcided to spend my money on a track day!

Has it made any difference?

I can´t believe how dedicated to rennlist i am; i´m on a snowboarding holiday in the Pyranees!

Stummel:

The Turbo "S" ECU and the GT-2 Powerkit ECU's have different mapping.

One is optimized for the K-16's and the other is programmed around K-24's.

Truly, both turbocharger models require different mapping and have different fueling requirements.

How much $$$ for an ECU 261.204.377 / 993.618.611.00 MW TU 01, with a sticker that looks been modified or so 993.618.666.10? Can someone explain more on that number? I need to buy one and would like to get more info on those numbers.

Regards
