You guys were right. My mechanic did spend about an hour looking through the ecu and modules with his scan tool yesterday to no avail. I have to get a new OBC screen.

Has anyone replaced one? Can you just do the screen or do you have to replace the whole tach? Anyone know if you can get this from Porsche or another speedo shop or how much it might cost?

I didn't doubt anyone's information, my mechanic was just convinced that he thought he could change it. I appreciate everyone's contribution to my question.

As per the part numbers I posted it's all one unit - you would need to buy a complete tach. Probably not much change from $1500. Or maybe some crazy Canuck will swap?

Thats a good idea. Thanks Felix. I will post up in the forum for a trade.

I also heard some guys chat in another thread on here about some speedo shop in california, I cant seem to locate the thread to see what the name of the speedo shop was. I was going to contact them about seeing what they could do.

If anyone knows the speedo shop in Cali that does mostly Porsche gauges and such please pass information along.

No worries - glad you took the good-natured poke in the ribs exactly as it was intended.

Also try Palo Alto Speedo?

North Hollywood Speedometer is a very good source for Porsche gauges. I have used them before for my 993. They also just finished restoring the gauges to my 66' 911. It only took 10 months

10 months? are you serious?

Thats not the type of turnaround time I was hoping for. I need to look at alternatives if they take that long there.

10 months for restoration work as they are backlogged. They do repair work in a timely manner.

Is that what they go for Pervy? $1500 bucks?

I may be looking at KM from now on. I am not spending that to just have the display read temp and distance till empty. I leave my screen on Bar anyway so it won't matter much.

I was thinking it might cost 1/4 or a 1/3 of that.

I have no idea of what you can pick up a used one for, they still wont be cheap and make sure its the spec you want

If you want to buy "new" from Porsche you will be about the $2500-$3000 mark as you dont have a core
