Default Question about WLS2

I tried to search info for this particular question but I didn't have luck. I was reading some technical info regarding the 993 and here's a quote:

Other news for MY1997 included the WLS2 powerkit for 993 Turbo. WLS2 replaced the earlier WLS1. While the 316 kW WLS1 powerkit was just a chip-tuning and increase in boost pressure, with the 331 kW WLS2 came the K24 turbochargers (instead of K16) and twin ignition was added (standard on all normally aspirated 964 and 993 Carreras). Please note, both powerkits had the same option code X50. To boost sales, highly equipped versions at better price were offered, called the 911 993 Turbo S. The European version came with the 331 kW WLS2 and the US-version with the 316 KW WLS1 (WLS1 was discontinued for European models).
As you see the WLS2 says it came with K24 turbochargers but also double ignition just like all the regular 993 N.A. engine, i.e. two rotors/caps or distributors unless I'm missing something here.

Now with this info I just got confused, either this quote is inexact or is exact and then ask myself if the 993TT S (RoW) and GT2 came from factory besides the K24's with double ignition fitted or this "retrofit kit" offered by Porsche for their customers was only the Turbo S DME/K24's turbos and Turbo S aux oil front cooler (optional I believe if you didn't have it installed already from factory)

I know my 993tt RoW has the WLS2 kit added partially but I only see one distributor/ignition system.

Porsche never did a twin spark system for the turbo. Andial and maybe Ruf did.

Exactly what I was thinking.

It's weird that this link got this info wrong?....

I wanted to bring this thread back to light, because I used the search function.

I’ve seen more sellers in the last year describe the WLS II package as including twin plug ignition.

If it is the case that Porsche actually fitted this, it should be quite easy to distinguish with a photo of the distributor area or of the engine with the intercooler removed.

Can we definitely say that WLS II / WLS 2 does not have twin plug ignition?

Does anyone have an engine photo of a confirmed WLS II car with twin plug?

The factory WLS2s were single. These cars are 25 years old though and it's not impossible that a WLS2 car was modded to twin ignition at some point, but my sense is the ones advertised as twin ignition are just the seller not being familiar with the car and copying and pasting info's like from the website above. Request some engine pictures or maintenance records (6 vs 12 plugs) and it should become clearer. The factory WLS2s were 1998 only and had the option code XLC.

Good to know that they were single, hopefully this new information out there will help people make an informed choice.

I appreciate the response.

I had the WLS2 added to my 993tt by the dealership back in 2002 or so. The kit consisted of DME, K24s, oil cooler, and exhaust tips. WLS1 was not discontinued after the introduction of WLS2. They were both available at the same time through Porsche Tequipment.
