there is no doubt the 991 gt3 is exciting and makes most look like a bona fide race car driver on the track. however, there is a certain charm the 993 has that is unmistakable with a balance of technology and old school characteristics. i favor the latter.

This was exactly my thought process. Had my .2 GT3 and actually felt bad (putting driving skills aside) that it wasn't being used at even 50% of its capacity on the roads in LA... The TT/RUF is still being under utilized, but its WAY more fun (for me), even at idle. Don't regret selling the GT3 to get back into a 993 at all!
I have a 997.2 GT3 and a 993tt and also am at the point that the GT3 is way under utilized. It's truly an amazing car but it is not getting to the track where it belongs.... likely going up for sale.
The 993 tt is just plain gorgeous and runs like a dream.

The reason I got rid of my GT3s is the ride on the street was too harsh. My back was getting worse and I needed something else. I tried a AMGC63 but if you all Porsche guys know what I mean when I say I felt naked without a 911. So I drove the AMG for a year and then bought a 997.2 with PDK. A very nice DD. Then I saw the 50th anniversary 911 and fell in love. But I am feeling GT3 Pangs again since I heard the 991 GT3 was such a good DD as 997RS4.0 said.

More pertinent to the thread, I've been watching every 993TT auction on eBay for the past few months and it seems to me like things are at least calming to a degree. Very low mileage cars still go high, but I'd go as far to say that a majority of listed 993TTs go unsold because the asking prices or reserves are too high/greedy and bidding tops out at more sensible numbers. 2012 "sensible" numbers? Not at all. But the trajectory is flattening from earlier in the year, in my observation.
Not sure how reliable eBay is as an indicator, but being someone in the market, I see it as a good thing that it's not always just millionaires mashing Buy It Now regardless of the price. Maybe it's just wishful thinking too and they're still on a rocketship to the stratosphere elsewhere.

A club friend was considering selling his 997.2 GT3 to me last year so he let me borrow it for a few days. It was no doubt an awesome machine with limits FAR beyond my 993 but the major issue for me was that I couldn't really utilize all of the added benefits of such a car on the street and with only time for maybe one or two DE's a year, I might as well should have just kept my track focused 997.1 C2S. My humble opinion, my 993 gives me a much more rewarding drive on the street than that 997.2 GT3 I drove.
Wise man!
Not a humble opinion, a rational one that I share.

I sold my 993t because I really liked my 991s cab. and felt that two 911's was a bit much. It was the very dumbest thing I have done as an adult. While I still marvel at the capabilities of the 991, it does not put the smile on my face that the tt never failed to do. It is now for sale at Richard Sloan's at a few dollars less than half the price I sold it for. He is under representing it in my opinion. I would buy it back, but I can't bring myself to pay that much more for something I just sold!

You mean twice what you sold it for, right?
