Default New Addition - Porsche Related

I have always been a fan of Mercedes during their high-quality years. Eventually I found my way the the Mercedes/Porsche partnership car, the 500E.

I purchased this Signal Red / Black 1993 500E in Santa Barbara recently. I then drove it 3,000 miles in 8 days visiting family and getting the car home. It was flawless and a great touring car. It was surprising great in the turns too, you could definitely see the Porsche influence on the set up.

This is the only Signal Red / Black 500 imported to the US. The color is surprisingly close to Guards Red. I love it.

Here are a few pics:

Thanks guys.

I already have it in the garage, getting it ready for another 1k mile trip this weekend. Porsche Palooza. I will bring the RUF and 500E and bring the family. My wife will drive the 500E.

Today I'm changing the trans fluid as it is due. Service on this car is impeccable. Prior owner really took care of it. He is a true car guy. Many of these have been abused.

Brian, you will definitely have to take it for a spin in Eureka Springs!

Great, great car! I remember it well. I never had one, but I had the 210 E55 (1999-2002), also great cars, a little faster, but not as rare.

Nice find - never been a fan of the red/tan combination for the E500E, but the red/black works well.

Funny how many 993tt owners also have a E500E

Nurburger - that is a beautiful example! Same wheels (mine are 17"), and I will upgrade to your Euro headlights. Did you do it?

Are you on the 500eboard?

Thanks! It's also a pretty rare 500e as it's 040 black - 99% of them are 199 metallic black. Yes - I added the euro lights & clear turn signal lenses, which I think is a huge improvement (in both aesthetics and performance). The headlights are becoming increasingly more difficult to find in good condition. I have staggered 18" AMG's on mine - slightly more lip on the rears...

I am on the 500eboard, but not very often - it's a great resource.

Not bad for 189k miles....

Congratulations, Patrick!. Now I'm doubly sad I am missing Palooza this year. You guys have fun. I guess I will have to wait until we do lunch before I can see the new wheels.

Simply a great 500E that shows the classics MB could produce back in the day. I remember as a kid reading about and seeing the AMG Hammers (living in DE helped). I am thinking of adding something along this lines to the stable when the opportunity presents itself. My concern is the war that might ensue within my garage between the Citroen and all my DE cars. :-)

I should probably do a similar intro here for my new Porsche Turbo addition. BTW, Thanks again for the advice…

Wow! Your 500e looks fantastic. Hats off to your ownership of the clasic Deutschland design.
