Default Looks like I just missed a good one...

Saw this posted last night just before going to bed and was afraid to hit the buy it now without confirming that I could do a deal contingent on a PPI. Sent the seller a message and got a response this morning to give him a call...but the listing was already gone before I got the message. Seems like a great price for a 37K mile car!

What if it needs a top end, not such a deal.

A good price a priori. Sounds too good to be true. 1 owner, low miles..
Cars with stories have asking prices in the hi 70s these days.

Could be...but my guess is that he is a non-enthusiast owner who listed the car at non-enthusiast pricing. As I have said here many times, the Rennlist/ebay market is significantly higher than the non-enthusiast market. I googled the name and he appears to be a video game developer (Diablo series) and the CEO of a gaming company. My hunch is that the ad is legit, I just needed a PPI to make sure that it doesn't need a top-end etc. soon.

By hitting ebay frequently and hitting the buy it now before the dealers do! If you wait on PPI's etc, you will usually lose the deal. I bought my Arena C2 on ebay sight unseen from an original owner and got the car at a great price - but it took ***** to buy it that way I spent $3,500 on bringing the car up to speed mechanically, but I was still ahead.

Other than that, you need to scour all of the various sources of for sale ads - in particular the local sources. I also never fail to ask an owner if their car might be for sale when I bump into them when they are out for a drive.

It all depends on your level of risk-aversion. Personally, I would rather lose out on 9 great cars rather than buy 1 bad one! I would not have jumped on this one under the conditions.

Dealers don't care about a PPI when they get a low mileage car they can flip for a quick 20k gain.

Checking ebay 5 times a day and miss this one. LOL. Just proves they are out there to be had but you better be ready to jump on it.

Forgive cynicism but it really appeared a bit flaky. That is waaaay undervalued. Something may be rotten in Stuggart...don't feel bad you may have dodged a bullet. One owner? Don't forget ebay doesn't protect you on cars this old. I think...not exactly sure if they can outright lie. But "If it looks too good to be true".......I have trust issues.

For people that don't make decisions on the cuff, buying a 993 TT is a very nerve racking experience.

Good luck with your search, I just went through it last summer and my wife is really glad it is over.
