what size silicone tubing did you get for those spots?

I have new IC tubes and stock valve covers.

I've done cat pipes, so I've gotten fairly close. it was a pain, but ultimately, doable.
The Y-Pipe to intake tubes is 2.5" and the tubes to the turbos is 2.25". It is sold by the inch and I bought 5" of each (2.5" per side). It was just a hair too much and I had to trim it down a little, but they didn't sell it by the mm, so I had to work with what they had.

Funny thing is, I placed my order on 7/15/2013 and specifically order "4ply, nomex reinforced, high temp, turbo hose", which is almost certainly overkill for the application, but I wanted the best they had to offer and the price difference was measurable in cents, not dollars. Now I revisit their website 2 weeks later to provide you with the link and they have replaced it with "4 Ply Woven Aramid Reinforced Turbo Hose". Still a great hose and way overkill, but now the price is 50% higher than when I bought it. Anyway, here it is:

Agree RM's pricing on some parts are not competitive, but they were on parts for the daily car oil filters and for track car filters so a bulk buy was done to get free shipping along with the washers. I don't have access to anyone local with good metric supply so I just stock up.

After all the rain in out here I finally had a window today to drive a bit (no smoke on start up! and battery still good after sitting 2 weeks!) but I heard the ticking too next to barriers and other cars going slow. It sounds the same as I have known the car but it got me concerned. It sounds just like a air cooled vw beetle but not like the 993 turbo's I hear online. A ticking sound. Maybe when it was totally hot it was a bit quieter but not much. I hear no ticking in that promotive exhaust vid.

Fabulous write up as usual Mike. I must really drop by for a visit on my next trip to Whistler. A month ago I noticed a ticking noise bouncing off of the concrete highway divider. It increased with speed to sound like machine gun fire at 100mph. Only 16K miles and M1 V Twin. No noise at idle. How can this be?? Wait for it............................roofing nail in rear driver's side tire!

Great confession. A hint should have been that it was "speed-related" rather than "RPM-related". Good catch, none-the-less.

The reason I submit and read these threads so carefully is that I'm a bit of a 993tt Luddite compared to the rest of ya. Now I know!! Merry Christmas.

After fussing with the noise, replacing lifters etc on my stock engine, I went with mechanical backdate on the andial motor - no noise!

I did the same thing. I LOVE the sound of a perfectly adjusted valve train with solids!

pulling the turbos to adjust the valves can't be much fun though.

True, there's pros and cons. Also depends on what your definition of 'fun' is. Taking the turbos off when you set our mind to it is not that bad (might be a good time to have them looked at anyways), and valve adjustment isn't too bad either (although I've only done it on my old 3.2). Might also take the opportunity to change the exhaust then too. I'd think of it as an opportunity for more bonding - actually sort of look forward to it!
