Default Fender flare paint film removal

Anyone have any tips on removing this, especially when it's gotten to the crackly and hard stage? Are there any really effective chemicals, or is it just a hideous slog?

There are many threads on 993 forum covering this subject. On my old 993, I put the car in the sun and let the stone guards get hot. If you are lucky like I was, they just peeled off. If not, refer to the 993 forum for suggestions. Good luck

I recently removed the stone guards on my Boxtser S and put new ones off. I tried the clothes steamer method, if you google porsche stone guard removal there's a video of this on YouTube. Clothes steamer worked perfectly, better than sun or hair dryer. Mine came off with literally no residue remaining so I didn't need to use alcohol or goo be gone or anything. You can pickup a basic steamer at Target or wherever for like $29.

The only tip I can give you is to buy your new ones from FD Motorsports.

Sigh, I was there. I know what u mean all crackly. Can't get a piece off bigger than a dime right?

Get a tile grout removal tool (just a blunt straight edge thats plastic) or a guitar pic of sorts and some "goo gone". Make scores in the film and saturate with goo gone and the solution will penetrate in the score lines so you can get strips off at a time. That and two hours per side will do it. And the goo doesn't hurt the clear at all.

Real PITA. Didn't put the FM film on yet b/c it looks so good w/o. But from what I understand Darin's are thicker than oem (a good thing) and he gives u a practice piece free.
