Default Need Advice on 1996 TT @ RAC Performance

Hello all-

I'm usually active on the 993NA forum but this red TT at RAC has really caught my eye. I would very much appreciate some advice/input/opinions from the experienced 993TT owners about this one:

Thanks!

I've been in the TT shopping market for a long time now. This is a very nice car, and has all the attributes you would want.

Thanks for all the feedback. I had an opportunity to read some posts by Mike about his beautiful TT. The vehicle is a bit out of my price range at this time and given the circumstances of the sale, I do not feel comfortable haggling over a car that is being sold solely to help someone who is not well. I wish Mike the best of luck with this sale and know it will go at full asking but more importantly I wish his wife a quick and complete recovery. Some things in life are simply more important and in this case I would rather send thoughts and prayers instead of a low offer.

Thanks everyone for the kind word towards the recovery of my wife. She is doing fantastic and has just pasted the 6 week mark from her last surgery (meaning she can now resume normal activities). All the test have been highly favorable and we give thanks to power above for getting my wife though this battle.

Also thanks for the praise on my turbo. I thought she would be staying in my stable for the long term, but priorities and perspectives can change. If anyone has any questions on my lovely GR turbo, please feel free to post or PM. For my convenience I offered the turbo for consignment at RAC. They have performed all the maintenance and a few upgrades (Bilstein PSS10 Coil-Over System) during my four years of ownership.

Cheers,

John

BTW - I am not sure of who Mike is, but I hope his wife is doing well...

Default 80K

80K for a well cared for car, serviced and sorted is a fantastic price with 40K range miles... a car with issues can add up $ to remedy correctly! (I know) GLWS ... and wish you and your wife well pal..

It really is rising quickly and not just on 993TT - if you go back over the last 12-18 months, you can see the 930 turbos, 993 Turbo S, various vintage 911's and even outside of Porsche ( Bmw Z8, Ford GT's)

Economy is improving, especially for folks who have discretionary cash to buy a fun car (e.g. not just for transportation). Also 50th anniversary of 911 is bringing increased attention to Porsche in particular this year, from Monterey auctions through private sales.

I know that the top end of the collector car market has taken off again. Would you believe $500k for a Dino now! A couple of years ago, you could buy them for $70k all day

I just read the latest edition to my subscription of 'Sports Car Market' magazine this past weekend. If u don't subscribe to it you should!

The Dino comment is *****-on accurate. Big cash investors are piling money into the collector car market more than ever (a lot of international money getting in). This is not just a "phase" either. Bubbles may potentially pop in the overheated Ferrari market where those cars are jumping 20-50% annually.....but it's just a matter of time before the high quality classic Porsches start to have their day in the sun.

I've been in the Wealth Management biz for 23 years and one thing I learned early was to watch for the 'flows' of money. Those trends then tend to last longer than most would rationally assume. Once the money starts 'flowing into the Porsche market who knows how high prices can go.

I have been a subscriber to Sports Car Market and have learned so much. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in cars. So that is where I got the info on Dino's

BTW- Porsches have not been forgotten in this market. Open top 356's and early 911's have doubled or tripled in price. Racing Porsches have not been left out either
