Default Home grown RSR/semi-solid tranny mount

I had wanted to upgrade my tranny mount to an RSR or semi-solid type of mount only to find that nobody makes one. The only solid or semi-solid mounts available are for the 2WD cars. The good news is I was able to fabricate my own after buying a new mount and modifying it. The bad news is that I found my original mount to be in fine shape. Oh well won't be the first (or last) time my jacked up priorities have cost me money. It's very simple. Take the mount and use a urethane or strong silicone and fill all voids in the rubber portion of the mount. I had original thought of using epoxy but figured if there was rigid material that didn't flex at all, the chance of it cracking or damaging the original rubber was likely. After a few days of building up the filler, I then cut rubber washers/spacers out of 1/4" rubber. I got 3/4" zinc flat washers and had the end result matching the width of the inner metal sleeve. Pulled out the cross member and made sure it would fit easily. The rubber spacers and silicone still leave enough compliance that it is not completely rigid and won't break the aluminum crossmember. If anyone is interested in this mod. let me know, I happen to have an excellent mount that I can modify. Take care [ATTACH]731806[/ATT

Good work on the DIY, did you notice any difference afterwards? Any increases in vibration, or on the other hand improvements in shifting etc.

Minimal NVH transfer into cabin. Notable but not excessive shift firmness. Again it's most likely one of those things that if you make it yourself (and haven't payed out the wahoo for) the placebo effect works well. Coming soon is my Homegrown rear adj. control arms. :-)

Looks like a good idea. Too bad I ordered the other one. In retrospect I think I saw this thread when first posted but for some reason fell off my radar
