Ruf bumpers and sports seats on
#31
I'm also curious about the front RUF bumper. I have a blemish on my Turbo S bumper and will need to fix it. Thought about replacing with RUF. How much do these run? Anyone have experience with "other" manufacturers of RUF type of bumpers? Are there even any other manufacturers? What makes these so difficult to fit?
I have a larger gap than should be on the front of the hood. Not sure where there comes from.
Thanks.

Hi Bradford and Owen,
After a long stop in production, Ruf has started re-manufacturing the CTR style bumpers for the 993 (it is the double exhaust type in the back) after lots of begging from several clients.
I am not surprised you can't order them through RAC Dallas anymore, because they are no longer the Ruf authorized distributor in North America. I believe the name of the authorized distributor is Ruf Auto US and they are in Michigan. I have been dealing with Mike Melville there from whom I have ordered the seats, A-pillar kit, bumpers, floor mats and a few other items.
Despite being Ruf genuine parts (w id tags etc), the bumpers are a pain to fit (as per body shop). I have no idea why except that there are not OEM parts. In my case, the front was much tougher than the rear (I added some complexity by layering in the Techart fog lights and ductwork to cool the front brakes ... but that was the easy part apparently!).
I'll check my invoices when I am back from vaca - guessing $3k per bumper for now.

Marin, thanks for clearing that up. As far as RAC in Dallas not carrying them, I meant back when they were repping Ruf here in the states. Enjoy your car!

I believe the reason why the CTR2 bumpers are a PITA to fit is that they are designed for a narrow body vehicle (the CTR2 is a narrow body). The fitment issues come with putting these bumpers on the wide bodied vehicles like the TT.

CTR2 type bumpers come in both flavors, narrow and wide for 993 bodies, the CTR2 RUF bodies the standard width is the 993tt, they have the wide body which it is wider than the 993tt.,cheers, Sonny1.

Standard 911 (993) Turbo width = 1,796mm (=70.7 inches)
RUF CTR2 width = 1,735mm (=68.3 inches or 3.4 inches narrower than the turbo = narrow body fitment)
RUF CTR2 sport width = 1,915mm (75.4 inches)
I believe this is why there are always fitment issues with the RUF CTR2 bumpers on the wide-bodied 993 vehicles (be it a 4S or turbo).

Thanks for the feedback Sonny.
I can only speak of my own experience (related to me by a third party i.e. the body shop). Interestingly, RUF USA had warned me about some pretty involved fitting work when I ordered.
To be clear, I am extremely happy with the fit of the finished product. So maybe someone's "extensive" fitting work is someone else's "par for the course" for this type of work?

Hi Guys
Sorry for delay - we had our second boy over year-end and my attention has been elsewhere for the last few months!
Those are Ruf 19 on my car (others have 18'). I am running Michelin Pilot Sport S2 (295/30/ZR19 for last pair I bought - not sure what other pair is - will revert in a week or so).
I will pick up the car in a week - picked it up and returned it for a small issue that should have been correct the first time around.
Re #4, yes - we welded the tips - that was the only way to make it work - car looks much better with exhaust length matching the bumpers' depth.

Thanks for the update, I'm waiting for my Ruf bumpers to arrive from germany. Did you paint the bumpers of the color code of your car or did you have someone read the paint on your car and then try to match it? Normally they fade a little bit after 18 years. especially darker colors?

I gave them to the body shop without any specific instructions - so I am not sure which way they went - would think color-matching would be more appropriate.
Did you decide what you will get re fog lights / brake cooling ducts / stock set-up etc ... I love the look of these cars with the RUF bumpers on ... hope you do to!
Nice garage by the way!

I would guess they color matched yours, looks really good in the pics! I've ordered clear indicator lights. Still waiting on the bumpers and ruf mirrors to arrive from Germany! So far I've just fixed the suspension with new pss10s and put 19" wheels on. And pedals, hopefully shifter will arrive this week from a fellow rennlister. I'm not a fan of the ruf steering wheel so I have my eyes on a 996gt3rs wheel. I think the front of these cars look so much better dressed in a ruf bumper!
