Question Which is the Immobiliser code?

Obtained a variety of codes from a dealer including a "learning code" and an "ignition lock/alarm system code". They claim the learning code is the "immobiliser code" but me thinks the latter is and the former is for programming new remotes. Which is it? Thanks. Ronnie.

There should be only 1 code, a 4 numbered one. Maybe the other code is the radio code.

I have three 4 digit codes. The two in the first thread and the radio code. Very confusing....

AFAIK, the immobilizer code is supposed to be on the immobilizer unit under the driver's seat. The ecu and immobilizer is covered by a metal bracket with bolts with special heads that need to be cut off to remove the bracket. If your ecu has ever been changed/reprogramed, this bracket would be missing and you should be able to peek at the top of the immobilizer which sits just inboard to the ecu. It's the bottom right 4 digit number starting with SW or SN.

You could also go thru the sequence to program new remotes using the alarm code supplied and see what happens. If incorrect, it most likely won't work and this will be obvious as the lights won't flash.

Thanks guys. All original so can't see immobilizer unit. This was the first thing I tried. I don't really want to program another remote - already have 2 - just want to know which is the immobilizer code in case I need it sometime.

Can you go by another dealer, and ask for the codes again? I did that at two different dealers just to confirm. Of course still haven't been able to program the bloody thing.

I'm pretty sure the codes are correct because the radio code and the radio serial number match my radio card. I'll try the indy that I have service the car to see if he knows. See pic below which indicates the code terminology. Note items 1, 7 and 12.

I believe it's the learning code that you want, but it's been a while since I looked them up for a 993. Is it 4 digits?

Well, dealer says it's the learning code but indy is sure the immobilizer code is the ignition lock/alarm system code. Says learning code is for programming remotes. Both these and the radio code are 4 digits. I'm going with the indy, as I do for servicing, unless someone here is certain to the contrary.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Learning code is for programming remotes. What exactly do you need the immobilizer code for?

If the fob fails, you'll need the same code used for programming the remotes. It's the same sequence whether you're programming a remote, or just starting the car without the fob. The only difference is the sequence to open the door with the key. Then once you put the code in (using the key in the ignition switch), instead of pressing the button on the remote to program the fob, you'll just start the car.

Colour me confused....So you're saying the learning code is the immobiliser code as well. What is the ignition lock/ alarm system code for?
