1997 993 Cabrio Turbo S ?
I posted this on the general discussion forum and they told me to post here.
I'm interested in getting what the owner says is a 1997 911 Cabrio Turbo S. however i didnt know that Porsche ever made a cabrio turbo s? the owner claims it was imported from germany by a private collector. Anyone have any info on the production numbers on these if any and the actual market value (realistic, i've seen some turbo s coupe being listed for 170K with no real bidders for over 2 years)

According to Adrian Streather, there is no cab turbo 's' (or real 993 tt engined cabs) from the factory. There were 6 wide bodied speedsters (not turbo). There were 14 - 993 bodied cab turbo built in 1995 - but with the 964 turbo engine, apparently the cab 993 body is not stiff enough for the 993 twin turbo engine.
if the car you are looking at is a cab turbo from the factory it should have a 964 turbo engine, it should be easy to figure out when you open the engine lid - 964 is single turbo and has a single core intercooler.

didn't someone post a car here recently that looked like a turbo s cab but was not factory...car had a half cage if I recall and guy said it was a race car. Be careful as others have said a 993 turbo S cab has not been recorded in any of the literature I am familair with. If it is priced right and what you are looking for then go for it after ppi. but do not pay "S" money for it. you could post a link if you want our opinion...not many of us on here would want a 993 turbo cab, as we like the stiff roof and less weight. The 993 cabs were a different heavier chassis that was shared with the Targa.

They built the 993 turbo cabs for Ca. There wasnt an S though. I would sum these cars up as 993 cabs with a 965 engine in! I think they even had the 965 rear spoiler, not the melted cheese 993 turbo version. Were they even turbo body? The black one above isnt

Sounds like someone's spent a lot of money building it. The description is a little misleading since they've cut and pasted (probably) some Porsche literature. It's lighter than it should be so would be worried that it started out as a coup or older car with a 993 kit body (has gemballa roof/parts), sounds like a na engine that's had turbo conversion if you read between the lines. Forget about the special wishes claim. It looks like they've done a good job but not something most of us would be interested in...
