I've driven both the gen1 and gen2 997 GT3. They are fantastic cars. If you haven't driven them I highly recommend it. I love the instant throttle response and high revs. Totally different experience from our RUFs, but a blast to drive and IMO probably the closest "feel" to the air cooled porsches of any 997. Straight line performance is no comparison. The turbo R has much more grunt, torque, etc., but suspension, ride, brakes, steering feel, are all superior on the newer cars.

The car feels incredibly planted in the twisties and the grip is simply amazing. I also love the way the cars sound. Can't beat that NA exhaust note!

From a purely performance metric it's tough to beat modern technology, but I love the character of our 15 year old cars. So much more visceral than even the GT3s. To each his own.

I do know that if I sold the RUF, the only other 911 that you'd find in my garage would be a GT3 - Gen1, Gen2, RS, 4.0RS. I'd take any one!

Hey thanks for the feedback Kevin ! I'm looking down the road a ways and trying to figure out which modern 911 would be a complimentary car to the RUF. Not sure if the feel and driveability of the 997TT is the final answer and have been looking at the GT cars. I find it interesting that a lot of 993 owners liken the driver experience of the modern GT cars to the feel of the 993 line, notwithstanding their differences (ie NA vs forced induction).

Good to see some updated pics of your vehicle again. The red and white colors are a nice pairing !!

Default V1

I have a V1... wish this was a ticket, would have been less then having to replace the turbo hose that came off at boost

Why not just send it to RUF in Michigan...they will still do the conversion.
