Default 997tts question

I posted a few weeks ago that I had to give up a lifetime of motorcycles (33 when I lost count). I was considering a Chaterham or a Meyers Manx with a 180hp mtr. I have been thinking of late of a bit more comfortable 4 wheeled motorcycle, to wit, a 997tts with PDK. I have had only one motorcycle that could out accelerate this beast. There is a 427 corvette conv. coming out soon that will be a much better deal but I'll admit to being a bit of an automotive snob and a Corvette just isn't me, or at least how I like so see my self. The question is this...all the cars I am looking at have the Centerlock wheels. I think they look really cool but lots of folks around here think they can are a major problem. Why?? If I have to buy a special wrench, that doesn't seem much of a hurdle compared to what I'm going to have to pay for the car. Am I missing something. Thanks as always.......Chris

Well, for one, you are missing the correct forum to post in... I suspect you'd have much better luck posting in one of the 997-related forums.

I had a 2011 tts, very fast cars. The CLs are a total pia to deal with imo.

Chris,

Regarding the centerlocks, there is plenty of information on the GT2/GT3 forum. This recent thread gives a few bits of information that may make you pause when considering CL's:

In particular these comments on the above thread:

https://rennlist.com/forums/9609321-post9.html

If the car you have in mind is primarily for street use, I'd give it some serious thought before rolling with the CL's.

Thanks so much for that post Geoff. That is very depressing reading. I'm not sure I have seen a turbo s with PDK that didn't have the CL's. Onward into the fog...thanks again all......Chris
