Brake booster acting up.

Brake booster acting up.
The brake booster light stays on the other day. No brake. The mechanic came over. fiddle with the brake or abs pump and the pumps works. He said the brake booster pump need to be replaced.
Done a search here. What I read indicated that it seem that it may be caused by a loose connection, or the pump or the pressure switch.
Now that it is working do i need to be concerned? Dont want to loose brakes while driving.
Is there anyway to check whether it is the pump or the pressure switch that need replacing?
