Default K&N Air Filter

Thinking of putting one on and wondering if there is any downside to doing so? My guess is no, but wanted to reconfirm with others who have knowledge/experience with this product.

Feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks.

don't bother. no hp benefit and the risk of both poor filtration and oil getting onto the expensive maf.

I have a K&N in mine with a fabspeed airbox.

Only change is slight in exhaust sound

Luckily haven't had any MAF related issues thus far but if I had to do it again based on opinions here, I probably wouldn't.

K & N's are fine in all 993's as long as they're not dripping in oil. Slight induction noise increase and no need to fiddle to replace it are the only real benefits. Never heard of a bad MAF on a 993, later watercooled cars can suffer more

+1....have had the K&N for 2 years, no issues with MAF.
Mind you, I sprayed the element lightly with oil, mand let it sit for a few days before re-installing.

I see no need. The OEM air filters are great, and my UOA's support this selection.

i use 2 k + ns. 1 per bank, no problems but i dont run maf. i run tps and boost pressure sensor with multi throttle inlet. surely they are less restrictive than a paper filter?

regards mark

Ran a K&N for a year or so but changed back to stock and didn't really notice any difference, so staying leaving it as it is.
I figure for the Turbo engine (stock) it's not gonna do a lot, maybe NA car will benefit more?

A lot of tuners, like FVD and Cargraphic use aftermarket (BMC/K&N) filters on our cars.
