Another Euro Tail Light Convert.....
I really can't answer "Why", but I have just always liked the look of the red/amber euro tail lights. I made the "mistake" of asking Sunset how much they were while I was ordering some other stuff........and naturally, the price was right and they found their way into the box with the other stuff I needed.
I'm sure there are some euro listers out there that love/want the look of red/red tails (grass is always greener, right?) and they are shaking their head at me, but for now, I'm happy with the look.

It seems like all the 2wd cars had red/amber tail lights and amber front lighs and sidemarkers:
C2, C2S, C2 cabrio, targa, RS, RSCS, GT2
Whereas all the 4wd cars had red/red tail lights and white front lights and amber sidemarkers:
C4, C4S, C4 cabrio, turbo
So the way I see it, it's a way to notice directly if the 993 is awd or rwd. I love both looks and I think it depends on the color of the car. For example on an Arena red car I much prefer the all red lights whereas on a speed yellow car I really like the red/amber lights.

That is interesting. I was under the impression (here I go sounding like an ignorant American) that there were certain countries in the EU that required turn signals to blink amber. Is that not that case?
Well, none-the-less, I like the amber turn signals on the purple car.

I whole heartily agree with you on the body color making a big difference. I would have never done it on my Guards Red C2 because the all red look just worked. On this car, I just had to give it a shot and I am happy with the change.

REALLY?! Now THAT would be something I would be interested in! I installed ROW tail lights on my wife's old D2 S8 that were look-red-blink-amber and loved the look of them.
Any idea what the part number is? PET only show two number and one is the standard red/red and the other in the red/amber that I currently have.

Race Car
Interesting what Viggo says. Here is a twist...
My car is US Vin Euro delivery C4S (Ruf conversion). It was delivered with amber/red rear tail lights. And it was delivered with front fender side lights (amber). Side lights are unusual for a US VIN car.
The original owner had Porsche do a few Euro things to the car that was not typical for US cars. I guess adding amber tail lights is another "quirk". I like them and plan to leave them.

Not quite sure what look you are trying to acheive but if you want your red/red rears to blink amber (like us Brits) then change the bulb to (or paint it) green. Red + Green = Orange
