TT Vandalized in Vegas is finally home
Those of you who haunt this forum may remember that a 97 tt that I had purchased was vandalized in the Bellagio parking lot on Sept 30. I had owned the car only four days at that point. I had picked the car up in Santa Barbara, where Schneider Auto Haus had just completed a top end job with head work done by Rennsport. The car had one failed cylinder on the leakdown test. This was a burned exhaust valve due to a worn guide. This surprised me because the car had only 24,000 miles.
Based on the advice of this board I included in the "while you're in there": New plug wires, cap, rotor, clutch slave cylinder, clutch pressure hose, hydraulic pressure accumulator, flywheel, clutch, turbo check valves, billet diverter valves, TPS, intake temp sensor, temp sensor, knock sensor, turbo pressure hoses and complete lube service including brake fluid flush. $6,300 in parts. The seller paid for the top end job so I only paid for the "While you're in there" parts.
I got the car back a couple of weeks ago from Lufteknic in Richmond, VA. They did the repairs after the car was attacked by a disturbed gambler brandishing a framing hammer. The damage was a dented right rear fender, cracked rear deck spoiler, broken windshield, rear window, side window and a dented hood. I am very happy with the repair, as I am with Grundy Worldwwide. They insure the car at an agreed value and said I could take the car where ever I wanted for repairs. They paid the bill the day they got it.
Here are the pics. I am embarrassed by how long it has taken me to figure out how to post these....and I still may screw it up.
I have my Rennlist sticker but don't know the proper place to put it. I don't want to violate Rennlist sticker etiquette. I was told that once the sticker was applied you guys would tell me the secret handshake.....Chris
