that car is getting passed around. Built for huge money, sold shortly thereafter, next owner had it for what, 1.5 years, and its up for sale again...massive amounts lost here.

Yes, that was Alvin's Car. Lots of money spent on it. The story is the builder of the engine did a crappy job. What truth is that, I'm not sure. What I do know is Alvin spends a lot of money to get cars looking right. He doesn't cut corners. When I was in Cali, I visited Alvin. His cars were impressive. Modded just right.

The yellow car has had plenty of money thrown at it(actually looked better with the BBS Alvin had on it). A full PPI should be carried out. The car is unique. If I had the money I would definitely keep my eye on this. Lots of rare parts/hard to find. Because of so many questions, this should not be a sight unseen purchase.

Such a strange car... go to the trouble of deleting rain gutters but not the sunroof? Carbon fibre door panels, but a big stereo system? Half cage, but reclinable seats?

Does anyone know what it sold for last time it was on the market?
I found this on google:

Specs & Details
Exterior Color: yellow
Interior Color: black
Engine: turbocharged 6-cylinder
Transmission: manual
Miles Driven: 63,037
VIN: WP0AA2991TS321293
Auction Ended: 25 Sep 2011
# Bids: 25
No Sale: $101,100

I wonder, with no reserve, if it will surpass $101,100.?

Don't believe it was ever publicly up for sale. I think the current owner was a friend of Alvins.

Alvin found the engine, in extremely modified form, on Craigslist maybe in the summer of '07? I might have even been the one to tell him about the ad. Subsequently, and before installation, Rob King @ SCARGO found many things wrong with it. Where the project went from there can be speculated on by those more in the know than me. But I'm sure a greater amount that some small country's GNP was spent before it was reassembled and installed in that 4S.

If one checks back on the archives here I seem to remember a few posts that Alvin put out about this car while he was completing the project. I always thought it was a shame to see it up for sale so soon after so much effort went into it. This is certainly one for a Porsche mods calendar IMHO.

quite neat but in the end it's a c4s with a built engine and body kit.
not a ruf although badged as one.
limited collectibility.

with the mods, it would have to be someone who has ready access to a shop, knows the car really well, or is a tinker (or lots of $$).

really nice toy though.
I'd consider it for the right price, but lots of other toys out there. I guess that's the problem with the heavily modded cars in general. The most fun is building them I think.

I think there is no reserve on this auction. True? That's a gutsy move. The car is STUNNING. The engine could be in an art museum. But I agree with Basal... one needs to REALLY know what they're getting in to.

Any guesses at what this might sell for? Do you think it will exceed $100,000?
I, for one, do not think it will reach this plateau.
