Question Time at at top speed?

If a Maclaren SLR travelling at it's 208 mph top speed empties it's 21 gallon fuel tank in 19 minutes, how long does it take a 993tt to empty it's 19 gallon tank going it's 184 mph top speed? Just wondering.

well, the car probably gets about 5 or 6mpg at top speed.

At 184mph, you are doing 3.066 miles per minute.

19 gallons * 5 or 6mpg = 95-114 miles

95/3.066 or 31 minutes or 114/3.066= 37 minutes

so probably between 31 and 37 minutes

Probably a pretty good estimate. When I first started tracking my car I used to check the OBC for fuel milage out of curiosity. Very bad idea and I stopped doing that fairly quickly. It was always in the single digits and that's in a situation where I wasn't at WOT a whole lot of the time.

And if you're going 3.066 miles per minute, and can go for (i'd def say a max of) 37 minutes - you'd need a little more than 113 miles to accomplish this. I'd say there are definitely places on the I10 in west Texas where I'd like to give that a try.

Is there a way to re-fuel a 993 Turbo "in flight"?

You appear to be the right Porsche enthusiast to test this theory, since it will take a CGT to catch a 993TT, and re-fuel.
