Default Muffler Bypass Pipes from FVD

Hi,

New to the forum and first time posting.

I plan to put these muffler bypass pipes on a 993 TT and wondering if anyone has used them before?

Looking for some feedback as to how loud they are. The stock TT is pretty quiet and like a real throaty sound but don't want my neighbors to kill me if these pipes are too loud for street use.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Andrew

Haven't heard a Gundo Hack on a 993tt yet but lots of guys with 997's up here are really happy with the sound and price. Increase the bypass pipe size and you increase loudness. Under $350..

I have FabSpeed bypass pipes and like them very much. This winter, when the Turbo is in hibernation, I am planning to have the pipes removed and sent to Darin at FD Motorsports to have them ceramic powdercoated in satin black velvet. Kinda like these (FD's):

I also have the Fabspeed by-passes. I love the sound except at idle...sounds a little bit like a boat(not a great one either). But off Idle its terrific and IMO not too loud at all. FWIW I still have stock cats.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. Like the look of the powder coating - I may have to consider this.

I have them on my car too. The Fabspeed versions look better because they look similar to the factory tips whereas the FVD ones have oval tips. Sound is much better than stock and once I'm "on it" all the noise is behind me so what do I care if it's loud! I'll post a video when I'm near a computer.

The sound is the same as the I/O Volvo's in my boat...

Same here! I really like the sound off idle -- but really dislike the sound at idle. The real benefit IMHO is the lag reduction -- they liven-up the car a little.

LOL A better question would probably be who doesn't have them on the forum? The fabspeed's almost
are "dereguer" after 30 days ownership it seems.
Amazingly my first set only recently was installed during a few updates and never looked back ,mine
sound awesome on or off idle! Bert

Yerp, I have just installed Fabspeed bypasses with stock cats etc - once you're moving, it's awesome. If you want something a little more mellow, Fister's muffler mods get very good reviews and for less than $600, how far wrong can you go (muffler exchange)??

Had bypasses from Fabspeed and didn't care for the sound at idle and had a bit of drone in city traffic. When you open it up though its wonderful. Decided to sell and went with FD Motorsports mod. Ceramic coated mufflers and pipes. Looks and sounds great. Here's a link to how the FDM's sound if interested.

I like the way it sounds at idle really. Very motorboatish.

Another plus, it that the bypass pipes remove a heat source right next to the turbos, and aids in cooling. And a little weight savings.
