I just had these installed today, leaving the rest of the exhaust system stock. They look pretty, and sound good at first, but the resonance drone at less than 3000 rpm is loud (eg: 6th gear 70-80 mph), unpleasant and I still literally have a headache 3 hours later. I sound like a 16 yr old punk with a hole in the muffler of his clapped out Civic. I am all for tastefully loud and obnoxious - ergo Ferrari/Lambo, and my 06 Boxster S was a great sounding car. I wonder if anyone else is running these mufflers on their tt and what their experience has been. They may not be on mine for long...

are yours gen 2 or gen 1? mine are gen 1 and sound great no drone and are only slightly louder than stock, i love em and i am also running kevin's 100 cell cats. i am sure alex at fabspeed will chime in to this thread

Hey Hillsdonsmith, sorry to hear about your issue and we may have a solution for it depending on what system you have. Its possible you got the Supercup setup, which is more aggressive and louder. PM me your information and I will look up what you got.

You should really start your own posts, to properly sell an item on Rennlist. This will allow you to be most successful. And only Rennlist Members are allowed to advertise items for sale. How timely.....I actually E mailed the guys @ Fister today about putting theirs on my '97 turbo. Anybody here have Fisters on their 993 turbo?

I spoke with Alex today - he is very helpful and seems keen to resolve the issue. He suggested I confirm no hardware contact underneath (no problem -there is a lot of space around these compared with stock mufflers and all is tight), and to unhook battery for 20 min to reset engine management, which I did, to no avail.

No, I did not receive cup series mufflers by mistake, but the ones pictured on their site, with two dilations in each muffler. It's a shame, as the pipe work and welding are a work of art. The drone is at its worst in 4th gear at 2600 rpm. I have tried "driving around the drone" but it's too pervasive, and that just becomes a ridiculous exercise. I have tried to record with iPhone, but it either isn't able to record freq this low, or has noise cancellation feature.

A friend has identical car with muffler bypasses and it is MUCH quieter in the cabin than what I am experiencing right now - he only has some low grade drone. Louder outside the car though as Alex pointed out it would be.

I think my options are straight muffler bypasses or back to stock. I don't know that I necessarily want to start changing cats etc - my check engine light has never been on and I don't want to mess with success.

I have the same fabspeeds, yes they drone. Switched to protomotive single x-flow muffler since it sounded great on vincentdds's and performs well.

Yes, mine drone around 3,000 RPM. The only way I figured is to go lower on the RPM or higher on the gear.
This muffler makes me love the third gear, sometimes I think I over use it.
I think the best setup would be a muffler valve starting to open around 3 or 3,400 Rpm, going all the way as a gt2 muffler bypass after 5,000 Rpm

Never would think a bypass would be better behaved then a MaxFlow...

Initial acceleration is great and the Rpm is high, the noise starts to fade away with the turbos spin.

After cold start, for a couple minutes it has a not so god noise, after a few minutes, the noise becomes permanently. I believe the 911 brain adjusts something...

Never heard in person but read good reviews on the Robin's RSR.

The Drone is impossible to ignore, besides it and the noise till it warms up, an almost perfect muffler...

2,600 RPM? I don't think I have ever had my 3.6T running that low!

I like to be at least above 3,500 when out for a drive, knowing the fun doesn't really start until you are above 4,500 (at least that's the case in the 3.6T). Of course if this is a long run highway commuter for you than I can understand.

Seriously though, good luck. I know what it's like to make a major purchase and not be happy. Hope it works out for you.

I also had to take them off because of the drone. It was just too much and also gave me a headache.
The Bypass pipes are the way to go I reckon. Nice sound and no resonance.
But even then after a while they can be too loud.
So I had my stock cans modified and now they are perfect.

Switched out the Maxflo's for Fabspeed bypasses - MUCH better. Very nice welding/finish on their pipes. Pretty loud, but in a way that a 400 hp torque-meister should sound, and NO drone. If I find them too loud after a while, I will order mufflers from Fister. Met Darin at Rennsport Reunion - very straight up, nice guy. Took me along for parade lap in his 993 C2 - exhaust sounds great.

Their headers, which are copies of the PMS GT2 pieces, are as well. Very well made.
