Default We are getting old

Yesterday a customer called into my shop and I never even noticed what he pulled up in. After a while I noticed a 2005 997TT. It was a nice day so I had taken my car to work and had it parked out the back. We got talking naturally.
I have to say that seeing his car, sitting in it and playing with all the modern ***** it did make my car look aged.............quite a bit. The cabin was really nice.

He just opened the door of mine and looked. It was that look of diss interest. he admitted he wasn't a true enthusiast and things basically went his way a few years ago and thought he'd buy one. His Dad has 3 Ferrari's.

In some ways I would quite like one of those 997's one day. It is still a hell of a car. Every bit a real sports car.
Yes our cars are old school, but I can't help thinking how old they really are getting now.

When he took off it was almost silent, nothing but a little rumble. A non event. But he was smiling and that's what it's all about I guess.

The 997 TT is a Porsche for me, while a 993 TT is a 911 and that's all about!
I would never consider a 996-997-991 over an AC Turbo, because an AC 911 is something special for me, what a WC is not!

An ac car is more visceral and fun, but the 997tt is better in every performance category.
In fact, the new tts, while numb, will turn a 7:31 Ring time.
In fact I think the 997tt is closer to a 993tt than the 996 version.

I love the interior in our 993's. Much better than the 996 series. A 997 series interior is well done.

A 997 TT (and especially yours TTSurgeon) is indeed quite an astounding vehicle.

Modernity has its pluses and minuses. But all that matters is that you're happy with yours.

Can't wait, but the options are numerous. Must be careful cuz I want a "keeper" this time.

We're getting old like a bottle of Dom. Romane Conti 1997 .
I'm sure the 997 tt is quite nice. They must be because they are as common as zits on a chocaholic teenager around here.
Yaaaaaawwwwwn. Zero interest.
I've damn sure got my keeper!

It was mainly the interior that made me think about the age.
Looking at the 993's alongside the newer 997's, the 993 is still total eye candy for sure.
The hips and over all shape is just so right.

The "dated" interior, overall feel, noises and other idiosyncrasies of “old” air-cooled 911s is precisely why I like my car. I find myself staring a lot more when I see older 911s (read 60s through 80s or early 90s) than more modern water cooled models. I truly believe that – if adding an additional cal - a later model would make me happier than a newer one. This is very personal of course and the 997TT is an amazing car.

I think the 993tt is the best looking turbo ever built.

A front strut brace may help a little. Have you tried this? There are other fixes too.
