Default WTB - left heat exchanger

Mine has a non-repairable hole in it. Anyone upgraded to headers and want to sell theirs?

I'm sorry I don't have one, but I'd love to hear how you got a non-repairable hole in one?

Hi Greg - There's a set of heat exchangers for sale on Pelican. If I was more clever I'd be able to post a link for you. Search for "993 exhaust manifold" on the Pelican 911 for sale forum. No affiliation, etc.

Don't know how I got the hole, but Kevin says the metal is too brittle to weld and my mechanic doesn't want the liability in case his weld comes apart and the pieces destroy my turbo. Shoot, too late on the Pelican ad, I just ordered a new one. $1400.

edit: couldn't find any Turbo ones on Pelican. Lots of NA but they are different.

Greg, is your engine tray on or off?

My heat exchangers were replaced about 3 years ago by the prior Rennlist owner.

What engine tray?

Longer version of the story is that I had a crack in my exchanger a few years ago and a different mechanic had a patch welded on the outside. I just lost a turbo to FOD and the current theory - since we can't find anything else wrong - is a small piece of the edge of the hole came loose. Based on that my current mechanic wants nothing to do with an exchanger repair.

Ouch! That would have been a nice deposit on some headers.
