Default Yet Another Tire Question

Well it's time for some new rear tires. Currently have Bridgestone S-02A's on all 4. I was just gonna replace them with some identical new ones but then I came across the S-04 on tirerack.com. They're a new design, they're cheaper than the S-02A's which is surprising, and they have better ratings as well.

My question is, is it safe to keep the S-02A's on the front (~50% tread left) with S-04's on the rear?

I would NEVER recommend mixing tire brands and models on a performance sports car. NEVER. We ask our Turbos to do a lot. They deserve good rubber. Tires are cheap compared to sheet metal, poor performance, vibrations, and etc.

What are the code dates on the fronts? Don't use tires over 5-6 years old either.
