Having one of these beauties and NOT driving it is like dating a supermodel and not having sex with her so she'll be fresh for the next guy.

Scott... what a great analogy. You funny. And... correct.

Oh, and MY supermodel has 127,000 miles... I guess we know where I stand.

Really, think of the case of Blue ***** some of the Ferrari owners have.
Those guys have a heart attack when a car goes over 7K miles.

Now that I have crossed 40k miles on my car, I have had the epiphany that it is only a car and that it was made to be driven (hard). I am no longer worried about the "value" to others, but only to its value as it relates to my own enjoyment. Life is too damn short and unpredictable to worry about this ****. Enjoy it and stop worrying about the money. You could afford to buy and maintain the car, now drive it!

i am of the opinion that if you can.t afford the depreciation you have no business owninmg the car, granted the 993TT does much better than the rest... drive it, son't save the miles for the next owner, about to hit 85k in mine

You know, I had given thought to finding a Testarossa or Countach (child of the 80s), because I like to fix things and they break a LOT. But having driven both, I realized that those cars are not nearly as easy to drive as the 993TT. Could be the 10 years that separates them is too hard to overcome, but for the same money (more or less), at least you can enjoy a Pcar outside the garage occasionally.

CincyScott, I appreciated your post because its honest. Too many cars out there with too few miles. Just remember you can't take it with you and your kids will blow it on a boob job anyhow. Peddle to the metal and live while your alive.

Its a piece of metal - granted a nice one.

But as i say - who in their right mind would do what i did to a 993 TT?

I did cause its my car. Its really that simple. I like driving it - and i cant even remember how many klms it has on it - Honest!!

Keeping the klms low for after its sold?

I can now say I literally drove the wheels off mine. While at Watkins Glen this weekend my BBS Mags couldn't handle the levels of grip this car provides. I sheared the driver rear 1/2 way around - one or 2 more spokes and the whole thing would have come right off and been rather damaging. But I was able to gimp it back to the pits, throw on the street tires and head back out. I drive my car hard and will continue to do so, it is over-maintained and when I find new issues they get sorted and get back in it. I don't know why anyone else would own one...

Dave, had you ever had these mag's x-ray'd or was this the first indication of any problem?
