And another couple thou for valve cover gaskets and a slave/accumulator Glenn, cause if they aren't new they'll need replacing real soon.

Interesting that the owner has gone UP in price relative to what he had it listed for last spring.

I ppi'ed this vehicle last year in May at Storz garage in Denver. Based on the ppi findings I decided against the purchase. If anyone is thinking of purchasing the vehicle PM me first.

Geoff, what was he asking before? Maybe he corrected the items found during the PPI, and now adjusted his price accordingly.

WOW, a PPI in Denver. Who got to drive the Turbo out there from Eagle? That would be a fun drive on US 70.

Interesting, I didn't know he had it for sale prior.

He did state he had his car maintained by Storz garage and one other shop in Denver I can't recall.

I was semi-interested, mostly because he is in my back yard. I will PM you and
thanks.

Original owner was very accomodating in terms of driving the vehicle in from Eagle to Denver for the ppi. His only concern at the time was the unpredictable weather conditions in the mountains which could've potentially made the drive into Denver interesting.

We'd agreed on a price of $82,500, pending the ppi.

Anyone who watches ebay knows that a number of the dealer Turbos that are listed in the mid $80's were bought on ebay in the $60's. If you are patient I think you can get a good low mile car under $75K easily in a private sale.

Thanks Geoff for the information, very helpful.

BTW, I have been on the hunt for awhile. Picking up the phone and talking to these sellers has been interesting, kinda funny, and scary all in one. Some recent comments from 993TT owners I ran away from...

------------------------------------------------------------------
Me "Does the car have original paint?"
Seller "Yes, paint is original. I originally painted it myself"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Me "I see in the CarFax, the car has only gone 200 miles in 5 years?"
Seller "I drive it all the time, but you'll need new tires, they have flat spots"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me "Ad says pristine condition, what does that mean to you?"
Seller "Minus the tear in the bolster seat, wheels needing refinished, normal
road rash, and undetermined oil leak, its pristine"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: I emailed a dealer about his 993TT auction that ended on Ebay.
Me "I noticed the auction ended, did the car sell? Are you going to re-list?"
Seller "email: Does anyone actually buy cars in Ebay? WOW DIP****"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are just a few "interactions" I have had in last few weeks. I can't say
it hasn't been interesting and I take it with humor. However, there are reasons
why these somewhat great cars don't sell. PPI..PPI...PPI

Regards -
Tony

Tony,

Happy to be of some help.

These replies are priceless ! If there isn't a thread on these types of responses there should be one.

No kidding!

I sold my C2S in the fall of a recession and now I'm looking to buy in the spring of the recovery.

Sports cars are like stocks for me - buy high & sell low!

I bought mine from a fellow Rennlister (D-Land aka David). Made it much easier.

Those are some amazing comments. Sad, and amazing.

I would most definitely buy from a Rennlister if one was available to my color choices.

My favorite is the dealer calling me a dipsh*t for asking if his car was for sale.

You soon forget all the frogs you must kiss before you find your princess in my case. Part of the process unless you get lucky enough to buy from a fellow enthusiast. Always tomorrow

This black/red car that Willhoit recently acquired was formerly owned by a Rennlister.

http://www.willhoitenterprises.com/car443.htm

If you are interested, the previous owner will probably chime in as to its history, etc.

Good Luck with the search.

Saw that one and also wondered if it we'd seen it here last year.

Is there really such a thing as "raven black" as a paint to sample option ? The option code sticker says "99" which corresponds to "custom metallic paint".

Also does anyone know the difference between "lipstick red" interior and "Can Can" ?

Apologies in advance for the slight off topic.

Geoff
