If you've never heard of this event you should and if you haven't been you need to go. I put together a little vid from my trip.

I've been a number of times. IMHO, it's the best vintage event in the world, 'cos these guys do RACE their cars. But I have to admit I may be a tad biased, as I'm still a member of the GRRC. Were you dressed in period-correct attire, Dave?

I managed to attend the first 4 "Festival of Speed" events before moving to the US - before it got to the crazy levels it has reached today (much more intimate & less commercial). I attended the GFOS again in 2008, but have never managed to schedule a trip back to the UK that coincides with the GWR event... I remember the years of negotiations & pandering that the Earl of March had to go through to get the event off the ground - on his own grounds!
I'll get there soon.
So, how do you think an event like this would fair in the US? I'm not so sure it would catch on as motorsport is so segregated. In Europe, it is much more about having a passion for the holistic sport than any specific genre.
Thanks for posting.

I wasnt donned fully in the period correct attire, but was able to blend in failry well. Couldn't believe the level of racing going on. Bobby Rahal, Tom Kristensen, Derek Bell, Brian Redmond (and a sleu of others) were all out there raising hell.

Just the drive to & from was amazing. DB4's DB5's are like hondas over there. Link to some pics

I think you're fine as long as you make at attempt at the attire. If you get back one day, you should drive it. Very high speed, challenging track. But if you do, just remember Sterling Moss' career basically ended there after his crash at St. Mary's, and of course Bruce McLaren's life ended on the Lavant Straight just before Woodcote. I used to remind myself of those two facts every time I drove it.

Great offer. I have a buddy who is a member of the RAC & Goodwood so he has also put the offer on the table. I'd love to - someday. It looks as you say fast! Looks like phenominal momentum track, Grant Williams who was running away with the win in the Saloon car and drifting this big old Mark 1 jag with amazing slip angles. it was a hoot to watch.

I've been to the Festival of Speed and the Revival many times and I'm always amazed at the wide variety of cars and people that show up. Always a great time. I think the the Monterey Historics are the closest thing that we'll ever get in the U.S. for now. I'm in London right now wishing it was summer because nearly everyone has put away their cars for the winter. I've seen very little in the way of classics or even modern exotics this trip...
