Default Anybody look for a red TT?

looks nice

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...item19c025a725

is this common?, taken from the ad --> ECU Replacement ($4,000): In late 2008, the engine control unit (ECU) failed (this is common in the 993s at this age of the car). A new unit purchased from Porsche was installed.

My advice would be to wait to find one that has not been in an accident.

im not sure about a "serious car guy" that spends 5 times more money on a stereo than on his suspension.

That sucker is low in the rear. I doubt only a 3/4 in drop from stock.

The thing that always gets me about ad's like this is the arrogance. Don't contact me if....I am a serious car guy....etc. You are selling an expensive car and people will ask questions. Who's to say my question is silly. If you are an expert then you know the PPI should have compression numbers etc. so post them.

To answer one of your questions... I don't know of anyone that has had the ECU replaced in their 993TT. But that's just my experience.

Dang it Scott, I had to use a language translator to see I was being called a "big liar".

OK, fair enough... even Waldo had an ECU swap for an upgrade. But I'll stick with my muddled point... I don't know any ECUs thatt were swapped for "failures".

Default ecu

ECU failure common.... not!

all this car needed was a new DME Relay (Porsche Part Number: 993.615.227.00)

replacing the entire ECU was/is an extremely pricey mis-diagnosis.

9.9 out of 10 times a new Relay is "the" fix.

BTW, I keep a spare in the glove box.

Looks like multiple owners, that why they call it resale red! Accident history needs some clarification and not much mention as to the mechanical. Valve guides and duel mass flywheel can be issues at this mileage and it appears he already replanced the Monroe shocks. Can't tell from pics but paint looks great for a 45K car that has apparently spent time in the desert.
A good PPI from a porsche specialist would be worth the $500.
