Default replacing brake light bulb

Seems one of my brake lights is out.. Have not looked at it yet as I only found out this morning it was out...

Is this an easy bulb replacement?

Thanks

I have been told the individual bulbs need to be sodered in. Not sure if this is true. May be easier (but more $$) to replace the entire light bar. I assume you are asking about the upper / middle (3rd) brake light. Not sure from your post.

easy fix, no soldering necessary...I blew the right one when I was doing the video in my signature and changed it 4 years ago. funny thing is the number of people that comment on the blown brake light on utube comments.

The 3rd brake light bar is not LED but a bunch of bulbs. To buy the whole strip it was petty expensive, can't remember how much I was quoted. The bulbs were about 6 CAD each from the dealer and is a little tedious to solder in but not that bad. I initially bought some similar bulbs at a local parts store and soldered them in but they did not look quite right in terms of brightness so had to order them from the dealer and redo it.

A little off topic, but this is a good thread to post the following about the 3rd middle brake light bar for future users & reference:

Bulbs are part number 999-135-90 about $2.50 each (Sunset Porsche)

The entire Light Bar is part number 993-631-060-00 and is $192.59 (Sunset)

Replacing the bulbs is an easy DIY if you have a soldering iron. First get an assistant to mark the position of the failed bulbs before you unplug and start taking the light bar apart. Once the red light bar itself has been removed from the high level spoiler, the black back of the light bar is unscrewed, then the strip of small bulbs can be carefully prized from the reflector - put a wide blade screwdriver under the strip to which the bulbs are soldered and carefully twist a section at a time. The fit is tight so take your time. Run the hot soldering iron across solder on the back of the strip for each failed bulb and remove. Simply replace with a new bulb using a bit more solder, being careful not to short the circuit.
