Why does this car look so familiar? Didn't we discuss this Turbo a few weeks ago? Someone here had it for sale.

Found it.

Here is the old post:

https://rennlist.com/forums/for-sale...996-993tt.html

Price went from $61K to now $79K. Crazy. Unless Switchcars stuffed the front truck with Benjamins.

I had no idea he had posted this car at such a bargain price before we agreed to consign it.

Open mouth, insert foot.

As an aside, the price the owner previously listed it for was an insane deal....not sure why nobody snapped it up!

not really the market has remained soft. i paid 59 for a black on black with hardback sport seats and teza's polar siver eventually sold for 43 in the last couple of months. 60 is the new 80 with these cars.

Well, this should not have been a surprise to you. This 993 Turbo Forum is very active and even more so knowledgeable & informed. We don't miss much.

It did not get "snapped up" because the value proposition was just not there. Good cars, fairly priced, will sell.

I am not surprised that you guys noticed it.....I am surprised that it was posted here right before consigning it.

I have to disagree with you on the value though. $61k for a 993 Turbo like this is a DEAL. I have not seen many, if any 993 Turbos in that price range that AREN'T Arena Red.

Then why didn't it sell?

The right person didn't see it, or it may not have been up long enough.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter, I'm not trying to win any battles here, just offering my opinion on the market on this car and trying to save a little face after looking stupid.

and, BTW, I was not implying anything about your car or Arena Red.....this isn't personal....just that the majority of ones for sale right now are that color. White is pretty rare and does add SOME value. How much is debatable.

There are at least five other white TTs '96 or '97s for sale right now including Sloan (http://sloancars.com/1005/1996-993-t...0-24222-miles/) - 24K miles "asking" $77K (for a long time), 2 on Autotrader (48K miles for $57K and 18K miles for $95K -giggle-) plus two on ebay:
ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/993-9...item1c1552b4d0
and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/993-9...item1c1552b4d0
So, white's not that uncommon for what's available for sale today. I'm slowly looking for a TT, but I don't think 80% of sticker is going to work for me.

Am I missing something? I don't see an asking price in the post or in the link. Based upon the 80% of list comment I'm assuming it is in the $85k range. If so, I agree this is high even with the additional original parts.

With that said, seems to me that Switch is trying hard to engage in a friendly and reasonable conversation about the car and the pricing. Can some of us cut him some slack? As for my opinion on $60k..... it is not a steal in todays market but rather might have been a good deal for that car (you may note that I have the sister car, minus the upgrades, while I wouldn't sell I would not be offended if someone offered me in the low 60's in this market). Of course, dealer prices will be higher but IMHO this car will bring $65-$70k in this market....no more unless you stumble on the right buyer and only if someone values those additional parts at $4-5k.

Not sure why everyone is piling on Switchcars. I have no affiliation, but they are kind enough to be site sponsors. Who cares what price is asked for the car? IMO, the more, the better.

It has also been my experience that having a dealer, like Switchcars, consign a car that I am selling brings me more attention and $$ than if I sold it myself. Hopefully the owner of this white car will have the same experience.
