Mine was installed for the previous owner by Patrick Motorsports. No stalling issues and no problem getting her moving. Only issue is that when gearing up, you need to be relatively quick because the lack of momentum results in fast RPM reduction while going through neutral. All the Porsches I've owned do not like being up shifted really quickly so there is a fine line. Compared to my dual mass in the 996 turbo, the LWF is a dream in responsiveness.

Scott,

Isn't the Andial flywheel a "mid-weight" unit. Heavier that the LWF, but lighter than the dual mass?

How's El Guapo?

Steve yes that is what I have heard, but don't know how they compare with other LWF.
El Guapo wonderful.

Derek

Looking at your avatar, is Protosport doing the work on your car?
That pic was taken after the stage 1 install. I will have my usual mechanic install the RS LWF.

Did you decide on which route to go o your engine mod yet?

FVD have a short shifter for the 993 turbo.........it isn't stupidly short as some of the 996 generation shifters are.

i found it shortened it just enough, that it worked PERFECTLY with the LWF dropping revs so quickly

RS LWF is installed and summary of of findings:

1. Engine response from stand still 100% faster
2. Car pulls faster
3. Stalled 2X, but otherwise no issues. ECU seems to have adapted to the faster dropping RPM and 99% manages to ref the engine by itself to avoid stalling
4. I can hear the FL at idle, but it does not bother me

Well worth mod IMHO. Thanks for everyone's input and push to the next level of slippery slope.

How about a short shift kit? Ive been contemplating this one, but really hate to hammer out the center tunnel to make clearance for it. Folks have said this is one of the three major must do's -the other's being the LWF and new coilovers.

Remove the 100 lbs up front and convert it to RWD. There is great debate over this modification (RWD) so going with a short shift is pretty safe.

I'm thinking of a LWF for my car. What kit did you use?

+1. I also want to install a FDM or similar SSK. Preferably also replace the transmission mount while I'm at it. But I'd like not to deform the transmission cover.. Open for suggestions. I've also thought about 2wd but I that's a bigger step for me no doubt.

Looks like the one-way 'catch' on a roller coaster car. You know, the click click click as it ratchets its way up the steep incline at the start of the ride...

the only problem with the weld on box is what if you reverse over a driveway/curb whatever, and tear that thing off.
