Default 993 GT2 conversion

My wife wants me to sell my 911 and 944 turbo race car. I said I would but only if I can do the GT 2 conversion to my TT. She says that only 12 year old boys would ruin their beautiful 993 twin turbo. I told her many guys have done it and are well older than 12 years old - at least physically. Her question is, what is the average age of the Porsche owner who is using this conversion kit? We've got a bet going, I think I'm gonna win.

You have already set yourself up for failure by going counter to your wifes wishes. Debating one's wife on a car issue is a long term losing proposition based upon my 40+years of marriage.
It will either cost you twice what the TT conversion or you will be reminded of this project for the remainder of your married life. If anything goes wrong with the conversion and it will...my condolences.

I'd listen to the counselor. OTOH IME it's amazing how often my better half comes around after I let her win the argument.

53 going on 13.
You understand there is no "Conversion Kit" right?
The pitfalls are numerous, particularly if your wife likes to drive the car.
On my last one I installed Recaro racing shells. I got a call, "So how do I move the seat forward?" I told her.
Then she said "So how do I tilt the back forward a bit?"

Hooo MAMA that girl has a mouth on her! Seats were subsequently sold.

Thats one of the reasons the interior on El Guapo is completly unchanged.

Good luck!

I say do the conversion - if its all bad - change the wife !

As SM said above - thare is no kit and it 'can' be a pain - it all depends on what your threshold for pain is.... and it NEVER stops....

OTOH its only a car....

Simon - Been going through a mid life crisis since i was 20 - still going strong 15+ years later

You obviously don't live in a commuity property state. Ever wonder why the adds say" divorce forces sale"!

Well, I'm not going the GT2 route...and have no plans to do it to the TT in the future...

...but, my wife doesn't value cars at all. If her car starts, goes, and stops, then she's happy.

She and I are on different wavelengths on cars. I'm 32.

I think you were in trouble at the first sentence... Sell your TT and get a GT2 conversion that is already done; I think there is a very nice one for sale in the UK.

lol great post

I'm 28 with no wife so I cannot really relate to all you old married guys but here's my advice...

I suggest you say that you "scratched" it somehow then take to the body shop. When she see's it next time it might look a tad different to the untrained eye. Little does she know but porsche makes special bolt on fenders that are not only cheaper than the stock steel ones, but are MUCH safer. She wants you to be safe right? How can you put a price on safety?

Plus if you get a scratch or damage one of the new bolt ons, its cheaper to replace in the future!

Non-married guy here as well, just turned 28...long story short, forgiveness is easier to ask for than permission. Do, then tell.

This comment does not count since you're not married.... this is the kind of stuff that leads to a divorce. Not worth it IMHO.
