Why is your "Moving Time" less then your "Stopped" time?

Now go back out there and do it again

That's because it's a portable GPS which was reset before it was placed in the car, then I headed out and after took a quick pic.

Anybody else run there 993 TT's faster?

BTW, the speedo was reading over 180 at this point. They aren't very accurate at high speeds.

I have also found that the car can "out accelerate" the GPS. Meaning, on a fast short burst of speed, the car gets up to speed and starts to slow down faster than the GPS can accurately register.

How long were you at your top speed, before you stared to slow down?

That's crazy fast on a public road. Be safe my friend.

I live in northern Minnesota.

After discussing this with a friend I remembered that it was at BIR that this speed was acheived. Sorry for the confusion.

170 MPH is almost 250 per second (249.333). That is damn fast. How did the car feel at that speed?

Wow! I've done 165 on the track. 170 on the road, that's a different kind of risk!
A 10 or 20 Hz GPS should not have a problem. A 5Hz might struggle.

You should pack a tooth brush into the glove box before you try that again.
**** that's VERY fast on a road. I would also be interested to see how stable these cars feel at speeds like this.
Here in NZ we are blessed with having only 4.2m people, and where I live there's hardly anyone. I go up a road to the east Coast where there are twisties, hills and straits, and on a good day with no traffic I will blast to about 200 kmph just for kicks, but thats it for me, maybe once. The rest of the time I'm happy plodding along at 120k's.
Happy days, and don't get caught.

The car felt a little light in the front. I think it could benefit from some form of splitter up front or something to give a little more down force. I wonder if something as slight as a Turbo 'S' lip would help?

One thing that was a bit unsettling was the loud whistle of wind passing through the sunroof seals. All I could think about was Eddie Bello's 964 C2 losing it's sunroof at high speeds at the Texas Mile event and sending him into a spin.

One thing I can say is that I felt more confident of the Porsche at the this speed as I did my 360 Modena at the same speed.

This same thing happened to fellow member MOD500 at a vmax event in the UK a couple of years ago. The entire sunroof panel lifted off. Not sure how fast he was going that day since it wasn't a full run, but he did post 190 mph results (timed by laser) on earlier occasions.

Converts to 190 mph, on public roads in Germany in a 1997 CTR-2, consider it a version of the 993TT.
