Default are you guys going WOT in first gear?

Just wondering if you guys go WOT in first gear on the street?

my car doesn't make anywhere near enough power to spin the tires, so traction is no issue, but I certainly don't want to twist/bend the input shaft any more than it probably already is.

what say you gentlemen?

thanks.

I believe the input shaft is damaged from side-stepping the clutch in a high-revving, drag-strip type start from a dead stop. There should be no damage from WOT once the car is moving.

As Steve suggests. I see no problem with it either. Besides it's only a a second or two before an upshift is necessary.

hmm, considering how delicate these vehicles are, I didn't want to apply to much stress to the transmission.

You should be able to spin the tires in low gear - -at least for small amount of time. Not by dumping the clutch, rather by rolling into it once moving.

Also, any wheel hop can also do a lot of damage!

I've never spun the tires in the dry in a straight line.

with my puny turbo S ecu, the car will barely spin the tires in first gear in a torrential downpour.

in the dry, it doesn't spin ever, under any circumstances.
