Default Do the Numbers 9 9 3 Ever Follow You Around???

I have often thought about this, and felt compelled to make a post, and tell about another experience that occurred to me today.

First, let me give 2 examples I have known about for the past few years. I have 2 and only 2 bank accounts. One that has been with me for about 30 years. Yes, you guessed it! Both of these account numbers end in 9 9 3.

Then it happened to me again today. A little background. I lost a very dear friend in 1998 to Leukemia. A brilliant man. Every academic award imaginable, partner in his firm, we stood-up in each other weddings. Shortly after his death, in March of 1999, I became a registered participant in the National Marrow Donor Program to commemorate EP’s life and memory in my own little way.

My thinking was, that maybe one day I could help to save a life!

Well, today, I received a letter from the NMDP to update my contact information. While updating my records on their web site, I saw that my Donor Record # is xxx9 9 3!

I hope this is the sign of good Karma!

If that's not a sign of karma, what is? Your'e a good man.
I have a 993 thingie too. My phone number for my business has been the same since 1987. I bought the business in 1997 and kept the number. 3086 993.
They were still making 356's back then!

I bought a 2003 Mustang Cobra a couple of years ago with the plates 993 RCK If didn't already have a personalized plate on the Turbo, I would have moved that plate to it!

Your brain pays attention to those things that interest you. That's why when you are considering the purchase of a new car, suddenly you see them everywhere.

Just statistics for the combination of numbers in your documents.

For example, in a room of 50 people what do you think the odds are that two of them will have the same day and month birthdate? (1 April)? one percent, half a percent? Most people think it's almost impossible.

Actually, it's almost a given -greater than 99% in favor of a least one match (three matches are very likely). This was demonstrated at a class I recently took - we had three matches with 40 people!

A great bar bet by they way.

I remember my college statistics prof demonstrating that to us on our first day. It worked. I'll always remember that from that class (that and the hot brunette who sat next to me.....man was she HOT!)
