Default New Member - PPI in CT

Hello,

New member here looking at a Turbo S in CT. It is the Gray on Gray car mentioned in another thread. I am not familiar with the specialists in the area (or on the forum for that matter) and am looking for a PPI referral to perform the inspection.

Thank you and I will keep the forum posted on updates and will be sure to post some great pics if the deal gets done.

A hello to some of the crossovers from M5 board (Black06M5) and ferrarichat (Schminsky).

I dont know if they do PPIs, but try Dan Jacobs LLC in CT, they are very thorough. Google for web site, same site name as company name.

If you want me to check out the car for you next week, I'd be glad to.

Thanks for the recs and thank you WHB for the offer.

Dan Jacobs seems quite knowledgeable and friendly on the phone.

The dealer / owner is not letting the car leave Greenwich (even with an insured carrier). I am getting a bit frustrated with their reluctance to accommodate a buyer after settling on price.

I am not local in CT so hard to judge the resources in Greenwich. Anybody trust the dealer up there, New Country?

I don't trust any Porsche dealer farther than I could throw a Cayenne.

If they'd let me look at it on a lift and drive it, I could tell you a whole lot about the car's condition. But there's no substitute for a good compression and leakdown test.

at a 993turbo owner that uses shops in CT
i would use Dan Jacobs without question.
Also Jim Newton (auto associates of canton) is really good which is an additional 45minutes further than Dan.

If they are being difficult, you can use Fairfield motorsports in Fairfield CT.
This is different than fairfield porsche dealer.

Thanks Rob for the additional name.

The ball is still in the dealer's court. I gave them all the info on Dan Jacobs and explained my position. I want a fair PPI done where they don't have a relationship. They continue to offer their shop or New Country as the only options. I expect a call back today or tomorrow and they very well could move on to the next guy. They "reportedly" had 2 other offers on the car. I'll believe that when somebody else buys it.

Beginning to feel like the search should continue. Any good '97 (non-S) turbos around with 20-35k miles?

A '97 is very difficult to find with low miles. I just purchased from Willhoit Enterprises and I know that he has a very nice '96 for sale in arena red. I would recommend John Clark (816)356-2639 from Raytown for the PPI. In fact I would pay John all expenses to travel anywhere in north America for any further purchases that I make. Willhoit came through for me big time and I would certainly purchase from him again.

I have decided to move on unless the dealer calls and lets the car go to Dan Jacobs. Too much fighting over something this simple makes me wonder what is really under all the shiny paint.

That being said, I will go check out the Black / Black Turbo S and the White / Gray non-s up at sloan in New Haven. Haven't dealt with Sloan before but has a few nice cars in inventory. Just depends on price and PPI.

Something about these 993 turbos keeps getting under my skin. This will be round 3 with these cars since having a new '97 (artic silver / black) and then a quick stint with an aventurine green '96 5 years ago. Leaning more towards a driver for now as I just got a good allocation for a new f-car. If anybody knows a nice '97 out there, let me know!
