FVD/Andial DME

That actually makes sense. Andial/Thielert stopped supporting the original Thielert ECU that was in the original 3.8 twin plug conversions. The Thielert ECU has the dual map that includes the race-gas setting which is accessible by the flick of the switch (or the Psychopath Button as I like to call it.)
They did a deal with FVD to create a map that would work with a twinplug, so that is why you have a Andial mapped FVD ecu.

ScottMellor: Where is the "Psychopath Button" actually installed? Can you provide a pic?

canysmc: Yes it is a '97 ecu. I originally bought the ecu as part of a package from FVD back in 2001. My engine is 3.8, GT2 Cams, mechanical rockers, Kevin Stage 4 turbos, and a lot of other stuff. The rework on the ecu included ability to drive a second coil for twin plug and the software.
The thing that I find interesting is the 3 behind the Andial. Is it possible that there is an Andial2 or Andial1 program? I know there are several different programs for the Thielert but I wonder if FVD also has several different programs for Andial Motronic.

Did the rest of the parts come from FVD? I wonder how closely related an Andial 3.8 is and the FVD 3.8 kit other than the twin plug. Anyone notice the FVD 3.8 kit is on sale for $20K? I suppose installation will double that number.

The Psychopath Button is the rocker switch to the right of the kneecap gauge.
It allows switching between the 570 and the 630 maps.
I do not know what an FVD 3.8 kit consists of, but I have an Andial 3.8 build sheet in my hand, and the parts list alone is 13 pages. Almost every nut, bolt, and tube of goo has a Porsche part number.

+1, been eyeing that kit recently too...

Andial must have shared with FVD the tables and mapping they had on the Thielert, and got FVD's consultant to the US to fine tune live on one of their 3.8 cars, or the programming done over in Germany and back and forth fine tuning. With Motronic's adaptability to air density, fuel, knock sensing etc..you end up having a good final tune even if not done on an engine dyno. We have not seen any really fast datalogged runs for an Andial 3.8TT to know how succesful the FVD ECU is from a performance point of vue, but I am sure the engines fitted with the FVD unit must be running happy and smooth, better than the Thielert.
Using that same customized ECU on other 3.8 Ltr TP engines is like using any off the shelf FVD (or other ECU) on your engine, it will work, but not optimal, unless you have the exact same hardware, turbos, compression, cams, timing, etc..Don't discard uncontrolled overboost as well.
