Default rs shift fork

Have ordered the 'improved clearance' ssk

I've read in previous posts that the rs shift fork itself is not required (just the shifter) for our cars. It would seem from looking at the components, the rs shifter with the longer bottom part would decrease the throw back and forth, but if you use the regular fork, it probably wouldn't improve the sideways throw. At the same time, seeing that the the torque tube can't be moved up, if you use the longer rs fork (which may improve the side to side throw), it would put the level of the shifter linkage (the part that goes to the transmission) a little lower in our cars. Does this affect shifting? Anyone tried both the rs fork and regular fork on the rs shifter? consensus still to use the regular fork?

Thanx in advance.

Thinking about this more, it is the rotation (of the shift linkage that goes to the transmission) that's important in the side to side motion of the shifter? I guess if that's the case the length of the fork doesn't matter. The only difference is the alignment with the trans that may affect shifting.
