993 turbo is a great platform and can be developed way beyond stock.
but stock to stock RS is very close to 993 turbo.
once modded, the turbo has more potential for sure.
jean, jay and cp's cars are not NORMAL 993's but they are comparing against stock RS's.

jeff and dave (both weekend hacks) have driven 996gt3 with these lap times at TH

one car has 4.0 ring and pinion.
the other has moton
those are the only major mods, the rest are seats harness pads
at TH over the top, jeff did 1:57with hoosier R6 and dave did 1:58 with mpsc

a real hack like myself did 2:01 in 996gt3 with R888, fully stock other than safety mods and pads.

Yikes! I guess I just found out where I stand and I'm not liking it.

Yeah, Mooty and these other guys are in the 10/10ths league! I'm happy in the 9/10ths even though they smoke my 2:05 in a 550HP AWD Turbo . I'm not willing to tempt fate and stuff my car into the weeds or walls; I like it too much!

i was out at infineon friday. pouring. sideways at T3 and doing merry go around at T6. luckily the wall Gods protected me.

2:06 in a Spec Boxster (which I have been on track with you, and, yes, you passed me is just dead nuts! Best I've done in my 2006 Boxster S with PSS9s and NT01s at TH is 2:09!

I'm just cheap and it's enough to 'win' most DE's, lol. Point taken, R6's for the spring though Jeff Stone would recommend slicks as a 'proper tire'.

I had 265 front and 315 rear Hoosier R6, Moton Clubsport, -2.5 front camber, -2.3 rear. He sold his car the next day after owning it for 2 weeks and got a GT2.

Love it!

FWIW. I'm a novice track driver with 4 DEs under my belt. My car is stock from an engine standpoint, but does have a lot of fun suspensions and weight saving mods. I passed a GT3 RS at Gateway in St. Louis every single session I was on track with him. The car was brought down by Isringhausen imports on their trailer, so it may have been customers driving it for the first time? But whatever the case, even a lightly tweaked turbo can run with the moderns with a thoroughly average driver at the wheel.
I even caught a Viper ACR during one session, but it was his first weekend with the car.
Does it make me a complete nerd if passing the RS made me feel VERY good inside.

Ryojo, you are worrying too much.

It will take me a while to learn how to drive the RS properly, and I don't know if I will ever have the skill to get anywhere close to its limit...

On the other hand, how about another race of Cayenne Turbos going up Cypress mountain?

Hey Tim, was wondering when you were going to find this thread! Thinking about cars our cars in general is a lot of fun.
I need to get my timing adjusted on the Cayenne (have appointment at MCL later this month) and after Dec 22? I run out of warrantee so may get a tweaked ecu ... so I can keep up with you on our next run! Just remember to slow down and TURN at the corners.

A stock 09 C2S will drop a 996 TT. What you have in the 993 TT is a autobahn cruiser.
The thing is though that the 993TT has a great deal of potential. You just have to get
on the mod bangwagon.

I have to say the the GT3 RS sounds about as good as a car can sound. Especially when you're passing it We were all running in groups 1 or 2 and I think a lot of folks were shocked that this old VW kept catching them up. The Viper took 2 laps to give me a point by as he couldn't believe that I was hanging in there.
That being said, the ZR1 driven by a professional racing driver lapped me during a couple of sessions. My turbo hit 144 at the end of the main straight but he maxed out at 168. Jesus.
