Default Wheel Offset question.

I have come across a set of 18 inch wheels that I like which have the following dimensions:

rear
18" dia. x 11' wide
backpacing 6.25" from mounting flange to outer edge of rear half
offset at 11" would be et 59.69mm

front
18" dia. x 8.5" wide
backspacing 6.25" from mounting flange to outer edge of rear half
offset is et 40.64mm
outer half 1" wide x 18" dia.
inner half 7.5" wide x 18" dia.

Andi has PSS-9s (which means a narrower coil spring) 1.5 front and 2.0 rear negative camber and is PDL. (Pretty Damn Low) With GT2 uprights.

My concern is with the rear offset. What do you guys think?

They wheels were originally 12 inch and he is willing to make them 11 inch wide with the above dimensions, but i would not be able to return them if they don't work.

Thanks,
Scott

My 11" 996tt wheels have a 45 mm offset in the back and clearance is pretty close inside and out with 315/30 tires.

I guess a 10-15 mm spacer would do the trick.

More like a 25-30mm spacer if you want to fill out the fenders to match the front ET40s. Even with the ET60 your inboard clearance should be OK as you can run this on a width/ET on a narrowbody but won't look right aesthetically. In any case 10-15mm spacers are somewhat in the middle as you can't use the bolt on type so you need to install longer studs instead....anything above 7-10mm and IMHO you're better off using bolt-on spacers if possible rather than just longer studs.

my bbs-lm are 11 x 18 et 56 +23 mm spacer = offset 33, with stock size tires fit nicely
8x18 et 50 in front

I do get a small amount of rub on the passenger side rear on the fender lining with a passenger on larger dips (isn't a problem when at track/have the compression on the motons set more than 3 clicks away from full soft). My car is also PDL ...

my camber is -1 in front and -2 in rear. ride height 25" to top of fender well in front and 24.75" in the rear (but suspect it has settled 1/2", you can see in the pic below - I don't have my car right now to make any measurements).
I'm not sure I can fit the normal 40 offset in the front at my ride height, looks very tight... looks pretty tight in back as well.

Thanks Guys! I just did the calculations over the phone with my tech who has a 993 turbo with 996 turbo wheels up on the rack and he says it is doable.

I think I should sell my RUF wheels and try and get this done.

I need to run over to his shop. He has the 917 stripped to the chassis, a 935 awaiting resoration and Porsche Motorsports NA just delivered a GT1! Not to mention Dr. Porsche's one and only 4 cam 356..... Amazing. I promise to remember my camera this time.

Hold on a minute... if the wheels will fit without a spacer, and you are thinking of a 25-30mm spacer (about 1 inch)... just get the wheels as assembled now with the 12" width. This will be peachy, and you can run a 315, 325, or 335 tire. Yipes.

Stunned silence............
Can you run over there and check and see if they would fit on your car on your right rear (according to Mike that side is tightest)?
I'll fax you a beer....

Scott,

I just called the seller and left a message. But hell... if they fit, I'll just keep 'em myself. Neener neener.

I'll let you know and take a few pictures... maybe we can use a second jack to crank the rr suspension up to normal ride height?

This is gonna cost you more than a single beer, you cheapskate.

He's coming over tomorow morning at 10 with a 12" wheel, an extra jack, and other stuff. Remember... I don't run that same crazy neg camber as you do. I suggest you close the deal with him ASAP, and leave open if it will be 12" or 11". Also, you can buy an outer rim half, and switch it yourself.

Just do it.

Is anyone aware of a street 993 widebody with 12 wheels?
