Default Porsche Powerkits

This could count as my second dumb question of the day

It seems that there are two powerkit packages from Porsche, a 430 hp and a 450 hp. Is the 430 hp kit the "S" and the 450 hp kit the GT2? Or is one an X50?

I know that on 996TT's, the X50 package was more than just upgraded power, it also had beefed up transmission parts and other stuff. Just trying to learn more.

Secondarily, what makes a kit from UMW pr others superior to something that Stuttgart put together? Not discounting anyone's technical knowledge, just wondering how the engineering would compare?

From what I found when I was looking to buy an X50 996TT, the transmission has some upgraded internals, as well as other upgraded CPU, intercoolers, exhaust bits and the like. However, it could be that was only in the first ones, and those changes were carried on into non-x50 cars eventually. I know that 996TT's had some 2nd gear problems when new.

The 430 kit is an ecu and a 2nd oil cooler. The 450 kit is all this (different ecu) plus K-24 turbos and TTS dual exhaust tips. No changes to tranny. Try "Search" for your second question.

The difference in engineering is mid 90s tech vs. UMW a decade later.

I always thought the intercooler was the same as any 993tt, even up to the 993GT2?

Don't post before the morning coffee!
There's an obvious mix up above, between 993 and 996 power kits.Perhaps confusing with an X50 option for both series.

This is correct for the 993. Only changes to intercoolers (rather the hoses) and gearbox was done MY97 for 993. Minor changes and didn't have anything to do with powerkits. TT-S version U.S had 430 and R.O.W had 450.
