Doe's the LPPM work on the 993TTs?
I know it was a brilliant cheap mod on the NA cars. I am wondering if it will make such a difference to the TT as well.
Anyone done it?

Graham,
Yes i have done it - Before it was branded LPMM....
Only 3 issues...
1 - Barely noticable...
2 - Still have the HEAVY stock mufflers in there...
3 - Still sort of have the restricted "wooosh" sound (imagine blowing hard through a straw....) at higher revs...
I use mine to pass inspection every year
Simon.

I think the sound is the one and only negative aspect of the turbo vs. the NA cars (well, maybe the weight and the lag as well ).
I know Chris (DACH) is working on a product for the TTs. I would wait for that, his stuff is awesome.. LPMM and RSR's do not work that well on the TTs. At idle, the sound is boatish and when you get on it the turbos pretty much kills all the beautiful sound that these products make at high revs. I'm sure someone will come up with a solution (be it DACH or anyone else).
GL regardless and congrats congrats on the new beast

weight and lag? Have you driven a 993tt, its not a 930, lag is not an issue. Its also easy to trim 250lbs out of the car to get it down to the weight of a C2. Careful which forum you are posting on... It least the 993turbo isn't burdened with the anemic torque of 250lb-ft and 282 hp...

Yes, stock tt mufflers are more of a straight through design, however, there is more that can be done.
I am looking for something short of the standard bypass pipe and a bit of a different sound. Darin (FisterD) will be working on a 993tt muffler soon... as soon as I can get my motor back together.
I tried the bypass ("LPMM") but it was still pretty mild. Hard to get decent sound out of a turbo exhaust... definitely had the "whoosh" under power Simon mentioned above. Also want to avoid the "motorboat" sound at idle Viggo mentioned.
In any case, we are going to try! And have fun doing it
When he gets it done I will post a video clip.

Mike... your avatar... distracting...
what the heck is she doing? ah, nevermind, who cares?
OK, well... back on topic... I am not sure how much longer it will be before I get mine back together but it will be as soon as I possibly can. It will be his test mule for this muffler and is the first priority for me once it is running again

Yes, I have a new muffler modification that I am dying to try on MarkD's Turbo. It works magic on NA 993s, and I think a turbo version will work. Here is the NA version.

Sure you can cut 250lbs of a turbo, but you can cut 250lbs of a C2 too.. TTs have loads of TQ but a std. TT has trouble keeping up with a std. RS on track, and the RS has "only" 300hp.. But I guess there's not much "standard" in an RS .
Regardless, 993TTs are great cars

Buggar the muffler talk, lets talk about the Bikeotober fest!
I want one of those things.
I might be buying Simon's FVD's if we can nut out a deal. I was not going to start down this road so soon, but they are quiet cars. Just a bit of noise would be nice.
Viggo, having owned a couple of NA 993's, I hear you about the sound. But these cars are chalk and cheese mate, no lag and just so much fun to drive.
I will for-go the sound for the fun factor. These cars are a rush!
I would like to find that air con leak though.
Cheers
