levino
Thanks for the kind words - I agree

Only problem is when the car is freshly painted like this one is reluctant to start daily driving it and messing it up again although the 3M protection on the front and arches seems very good and will certainly help maintain the finish...

Toby, she looks amazing, congrats! Everytime I see your car, I weep a little bit because it reminds me of my midnight blue turbo that I couldn't afford to keep with the new car.

Nicely done.

The wiper blades and the "park" position are wrong, but that's about the biggest criticism I've got to offer. Marvelous job.

I'd prefer to see conventional mirrors, but the overall "shaved" look encourages the decision to go with the Ruf mirror style. I'm not sure what I'll do. I know I'll shave the gutters, cut out the sunroof and remove the headlight washer nozzles, but I'm not sure I'll crop the door mirrors. I expect I'll figure out how to get the intercooler set up as two tanks sitting outboard and go to a stealthy deck (no wing) but with the option to clip on a full wing for the occasional track day (but that will come after the Garrett turbo build, the tune, etc.)

Well, congratulations on a successful project. More pics, especially some of the details, would be great to see.

Many thanks for the comments all

Bradford, wheels are stock 993GT2 sizes:
9X18 ET34
11X18 ET18
Carrera GT, you may notice the wipers are not Bosch OEM ? they are sold by RLer aceparts and I would highly recommend them for anyone who does a lot of rain driving, they are very good and apparently are worth an extra 5mph at the top end
Getting intercoolers to work in an "outboard" position (like Ruf CTR) is a challenge and AFAIK has never been done effectively, the CTR would heatsoak quite badly and relied on lots of fuel to keep things cool...
996Carrera, I have been messing around with the edit colour feature in Microsoft Office Picture Manager - the colour is a lot darker in reality - Iris blue..

I noticed the blades were, as posted, "wrong" but they shouldn't be "parked" off the glass or you'll start to lose some of that paint. Maybe they can be cut a tad shorter and reposition the wiper arms a bit?

As for my intercooler project, the car has the factory Turbo S "hip" ducts which, combined with some exhaust fans to pull air out of the rear wheel arches (for aerodynamics and to start the air flow to the intercoolers) but the challenge is air exiting the engine compartment without resorting to the way Porsche solved in the problem in the 996 and 997.

The project involves going to Garretts and hard pipes with the emphasis on lag prevention and targeting maybe 500hp to keep stock internals. If/when the engine needs work, I'll go for more RPM too.

My oh so secret idea is to have sprayers on thermostats and maybe water or methanol or some cocktail injection.

Anyway, I don't mean to hijack your thread, just thinking out loud. : )

Just ordered a set for each of the 993's as together I can probably get 10mph.

BTW, aceparts offers free shipping worldwide, how good is that.

Are the mirrors finished in "flat" or have they yet to be buffed. I never thought of flat...but that's pretty cool if that's what you were going for....kind of a whole new concept of finishing certain areas flat....mmmm me thinks you could be onto something trendy and useful here.

GT i/c issues w/this motor are a bear....I wanted to go wingless but at the end of the day nobody could provide any information on air/water or otherwise, to show I could have a system that didn't heat soak terribly from normal driving...track is a different story. As it is now, w/the tight seal of the duck tail to the i/c, its cool to the touch even after an extremely spirited work out.
