Default Who wants sports cat and no muffs?

I've been contacted recently by quite a few TT owners that frequent the NA 993 board about making cat pipes for the TT's. At this time, we don't have the ability to build pipes that would allow you to retain your heat, but we can do something like this. What would the interest be from the rest of you in something like this? The cats are certified CARB and EPA and would pass emissions if it weren't for the no muffs thing.
I'm trying to gauge if there is enough interest to pursue this. You will loose a ton of weight, and as for sound clips, there is a short 6TT clip on my site from a track day, check it out.
If I have enough general interest, I'll price it out and get back to everyone. Please post here and not PM.
Thanks

Would we be able to use factory or aftermarket tips or would they be welded onto the ends? I would prefer to retain heat but since the car is in Hong Kong I can probably do without...so yeah, I'm also interested (depending on price )

yes David, your factory tips or a factory type tip would work with these.

if they don't pass emissions bc of the no muff's and don't make heat, what is the point of having a cat? Why not just go with the EVO pipes??

OK thanks...I'm subscribing to this thread and await pricing BTW, my TT is a Euro-spec...there shouldn't be any fit issues right?

They won't pass emissions b/c they will fail the visual test part of the inspection; but they should pass the sniffer test.

what he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
and its my understanding that you don't want an unrestricted turbine on that side, the cat adds a hint of pressure.

I thought the heat exchangers were part of the headers, why aren't they there?

I may not be smart enough to answer, but aren't headers farther upstream than the turbos, cats and mufflers?

What I see here is just a turbo going straight into a sports cat and then straight out the back, in a sports cat/muffler delete combo.

My understanding is that the AWE bypass design has the correct length and tip diameter based on the Porsche motorsport design to maintain correct back pressure.

Me too. No muffs, but they usually don't notice the lack of mufflers when they stick the mirror underneath the driver's door to see the cats. LOL!!!

I guess living in a town that is not known for high level sports cars is not so bad for a few things, like this.

Now thats just funny! Even the idiots around here know the difference (or lack of) a muffler and a cat converter And I'm probably in just as void of an area for high level sports cars.
