Help, Can't Get Rediness Monitors To Reset
After a tranny rebuild I got a Check Engine light showing the 1140 code. My dealer (who did the tranny job also) readjusted the throttle cable and reset faults, haven't seen the CE light again, but my readiness monitors haven't reset.
That was six weeks ago and 350 miles, with all miles local.
It seems to me that the fault codes should have reset by now, and my tags have expired. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Just went through this myself, so here's my .02...
If he reset the codes, it may actually have nothing to do with the 1140 CEL. You just have to go through the drive cycles to get the readiness codes set. I would do these two things and you will be able to conquer this anytime from now on.
1) After driving 1,000 miles most of it like a damn grandmother, I gave up and went and bought a OBD II Diagnostic Tool. You can get them anywhere from $59 and up, but I got the Actron CP9180 which does all kinds of cool stuff for about $159. I mainly got it to tell me when the codes were set, but it does other stuff too. If you don't get something to read them, you will have to go to the dealer, testing center or your mechanic to find out which is a total PITA.
2) Follow the BMW test that I will attach to this e-mail. I went and did this and the code reader said nothing until the very end and all of the sudden every single readiness monitor was set. YEEHAAA! I will try and find the document or find the link from my old thread from about two weeks ago.
Good luck.

I've had great success using the BMW routine which just takes a minor side trip on the way to the inspection station:"
