K16/16g Hybrids FS
Had these made up prior to picking up my set of K24/18g turbos. Wasn't sure if I would like the K24's (I do) and don't need these other ones. I went this route instead of the K16/24 route as the 16g wheel flows more due to the efficiency of the compressor wheel vs the k24 wheel. The turbos were completely rebuilt with new internals and include the upgraded wastegates.

All turbos other than stock need programming to work properly
K16/16g's are bascially k16/24 hybrids with a slightly bigger but much more efficient compressor wheel than the standard k24 compressor

Mihn at Autothority....I know, every one on this board has a problem with him. He is one of the nicest people you ever want to meet. The car was done about 1 year ago and runs great. I run 16.5 psi all day long on 93 octane and it never skips a beat. I installed the turbos myself with Fabspeed mufflers and fabspeed cat. delete pipes and a Greddy Profect-B boost controller. I'm on full boost at 2500 rpm..

Minh did ppi for my car and I thought he seemed very knowledgable his shop was Pitstop at the time (3yrs ago)and merging with autothority. I have now problem with Minh...cool shop btw. lots of engines, parts and cars.

The 16g's are supposed to be very good alternative to the 24 wheel.
I hear the 18gs have significant lung capacity....the 24/18's must really come on strong on top. I guess that's like a 24/26 set up....

There is NO reason anyone should upgrade a straight k16/24 anymore as the 16g is far superior and this is imho the best and most cost efficient k16 based turbo setup. Not to mention this setup is half the price than some places sell plain jane rebuilt k16/24's for
LA964S you are correct about the k24/18g snails, I have them on my car now For my track use they better suit what I'm looking for in a turbo.

hmm not sure I can answer this correctly (Todd at protomotive or Tony at EPL would give you the best answers) but the 18G wheel is of course much larger than the 24 wheel and is much much more efficient. "Faster spool" is affected by many other factors than the turbo its self but all things being equal I would say that it is no slower but is pushing *alot* more air.
My car does not have any noticable lag as power delivery is very linear. I also have straight pipes which help with the lag. It doesn't have the quick snap of torque down really low like the k16/24's did but then again those turbos fell on there face 2k rpm later. Pick your poison

Are KKK so much worse at designing compressor wheels than Garrett ?

However I would say that a basic k16/24 is much much more efficient than a straight k16 turbo without thinking twice. Why wouldn't I say that regarding a K24 hybrid as well? By efficient I would mean given the same exhaust gas volume and velocity the hybrids will move alot more air. I don't think we need to discuss whether hybrids are more efficient than stock based k16 k24's as that's already been proven Thats my opinion, if you want any further detail I would refer you to protomotive or EPL I'm sure that there are many threads on this on the 996tt boards as well

I would be careful in not confusing efficiency with compressor size and air flow!
BTW just for info, the 16G are Mitsubishi, not Garrett parts.
