In Eclou's link, a narrowbody 993 C2 with a GT2 bodykit horribly fitted and TT motor (but a beautiful interior I must say) is called a "993GT2" and only when you read further down do they add one sentence explaining it is a conversion.
Then the Truspeed Motors ad calls the car a "GT2 CUP" car WTF! You check the VIN number and it turns out that it belongs to a 996GT2. Go figure.

Jean - What specifically makes the body kit ill fitting in eclou's eBay link. I looked at the pics and was wondering what flags you noticed, that I missed?

Yasin,
This started as a NB car, yet when they fitted the flares they did not fit also the needed rockers. The result is that the flares look like they are "hanging" on the car rather than being part of it. The transition also between the flares and body at the lower contact point is very awkward. Pity for a car with so much work done on it on the interior that the owner did not bother fixing this.
Maybe these pictures can clarify.
This is a factory setup, notice the smooth transition to the rocker.
This is the difference.
And this is the rear flare from the factory, notice the contact point with the rocker:
And this is the car in the ad, notice how it looks like the rear flare is "hanging"

Interesting email conversation that I had with a person from Truspeed who are selling the white GT2 race car.
I read here on Rennlist quite a few good things about them, however I don't know if they have incompetent sales people, or misrepresenting their cars is a normal thing for them.
The person who replied to my questions told me it was an original GT2, so I asked him why is the VIN inaccurately stated (it is a 996gt2 VIN) and what is the real VIN. His answer was quite funny, he said that EBAY would not let him post the real VIN because they only take street car VINs. AFAIK the VIN numbers for the GT2 race cars were exactly the same as the street GT2s except for one digit that differentiates them. Only a couple had different VIN numbers, those were factory race cars.
Then when asked about the engine specs and who built it, why is the roll cage not factory, whether he has the original 3.8 EVO parts such as the Secan etc, he replied "the car is factory". Finally I told him that GT2 CUP never existed, that VIN for the race cars was similar to street car, that the engine seemed to have been built by MODE engineering, and was not factory, that the ECU is not factory TAG ecu but looks like an aftermarket one, that the intercooler is a much cheaper version of the Secan etc... he simply replied. "ok"..
For a $125k price tag and description that misrepresents the car, he could have put an effort to at least "sound" customer friendly. Great company indeed.

The owner sent me an email apologizing and explaining that the salesman in question was not specialized in Porsche race cars, but could answer absolutely everything about a Porsche street car, and that it was his (the salesman) day off but kind enough to answer my email (from his blackberry). So my thanks to him. Still did not justify the misrepresenting "GT2 CUP" ad, nor the originality of this GT2 as claimed and why the VIN number is not real.
I hope whoever buys it asks the right questions, gets the right answers and knows that he is not getting a factory race car but a hybrid on "maybe" an original GT2 chassis.

I've ridden in the silver GT2 clone and its FAST! Its just down the street from my house. Really pretty car in person. I think it'd cost you 2x the selling price to build the car. Anyone interested can PM me and I can check out and take pics of anything they'd like. As I said that car is just down the street from my house.

Jean,
Just saw this post. I am curious, could the rockers be added to the silver Gt2 conversion to make it look more 'complete'? Or do you really need to start with a widebody car instead of a C2?

Three Wheelin'
I would assume the rockers could be added even if they are not bolt on. A talented body shop can do just about anything for the right price
